  2. Name That Core Value Behaves in a manner that reflects a true belief in and appreciation for the dignity and potential of all human beings. Gaining other people’s confidence and setting an environment of trust and openness.

  3. Three Simple “Rules of Thumb” The Golden Rule [modified] Treat others as they wish to be treated. The Mom Rule Don’t do anything you wouldn’t want your own mother to know about. The Responsibility Rule It is your responsibility to report any conduct that violates the Golden Rule or the Mom Rule.

  5. What does the Policy cover? No: Protected Categories: Race / Color Religion National Origin Gender Pregnancy Age (Sexual Orientation) Disability / Handicap Citizenship Status Service Member Status Genetic Information • Discrimination • Harassment • Retaliation for a “complaint” about conduct related to a “protected category”

  6. What is Prohibited? Offensive Remarks (comments, jokes, slurs, nicknames, teasing, emails, text messages, IMs) Offensive Images (screen savers, emailed .jpgs, “You wouldn’t believe what I saw on YouTube last night.”) Offensive physical conduct (touching, gestures, leering) Threats or intimidation (including physical threats or threats to retaliate) Flirtation, advances, talking about sex

  7. What should you do? If you believe our policies may have been violated by anyone, you must REPORT IT whether it happens to you, you see it, or you hear about it.

  8. Whom should you tell? Manager or Senior Management Human Resources (HR Business Partner, HR Service Center, or HR senior management team) Office of General Counsel Each is available to you. Any time. Any Order.

  10. What if …? you have already reported a matter, but it was not handled to your satisfaction or in a timely manner … NOTIFY The Vice President of Human Resources, or The Office of General Counsel.

  11. CARE’s Response • Investigate • Attempt to preserve confidentiality to the extent the needs of the situation and/or investigation permit • Take appropriate corrective action • Follow up with the “reporter”

  12. What Happens to the “Reporter”? Nothing! • The “reporter” will not be penalized or retaliated against for making a report. • No employee will be penalized or retaliated against for participating in an investigation. • Any employee who violates CARE’s non-retaliation policy will be subject to prompt and appropriate disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
