  1. Date: SEPT 05 Grow in Christ • Scripture: “Let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity.”Hebrews 6:1 (NIV) The Christian life is not one of stagnation, but one of growth and striving to maturity. Yet, the writer to the Hebrews referred to his readers as infants, still living on milk rather than solid food, even though at the time Paul wrote, he said they should have reached the status of teachers of God’s Word! We must form habits of Bible reading and Bible study that we may grow to maturity. God’s Word guarantees a return on such investments. God said through Isaiah that when His word goes out form his mouth, “it will not return to me empty, but will achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:11) We are provided no guaranteed on our financial investments in the stock market, yet we willingly throw our money at it. How much more should we be willing to take advantage of the sure return on our investment of reading God’s Word? Don’t read the Bible daily? Pick out a book and read a chapter a day for a month. Experience the difference God will make in your life. You say you DO read the Bible most every day? Then set a goal to memorize several passages that mean a lot to you, or that you know would be helpful to share with others. Strive to know God’s Word better…deeper! Make the investment! Reap the benefit! What could you do to take your knowledge of the Bible to higher levels? Question: Set a goal to read a chapter of the Gospel of John each day, or to memorize several meaningful scripture verses. Challenge: Prayer: Lord, help us to grow in the knowledge of your Word that we might go on toward Christian maturity. P.O.
