  2. Learner’s Permit/ Driver’s License • 15 years old you take a test for to get this permit. • After you obtain the permit you can drive as long as there is a parent in the car with you • When you turn 16, you can take the driving test so you can drive alone

  3. Hardship • You can get your license at 14 or 15 but it is very restricted. • Valid only for pre-authorized locations (school or work). • Passengers limited to family members only. • A mileage limitation to each drive. • Tennessee, for example, imposes a limitation of 25 miles per way. • Valid only during daylight hours.

  4. Joyriding The action or practice of driving fast and dangerously for enjoyment, especially in a stolen car.

  5. Driving laws and Repercussions

  6. Seatbelt • If you anyone in the car doesn’t have a seatbelt on, a police officer can give you a big ticket

  7. Texting and Driving • In some states if you text and drive, you can receive a ticket. • Some states don’t even allow you to talk on the phone while you drive.

  8. Speed limit • If you do not obey the speed limit, you can receive a big ticket

  9. Radar detector • An electronic device used by motorists to detect if their speed is being monitored by police or law enforcement using a radar gun. Most radar detectors are used so the driver can reduce the car's speed before being ticketed for speeding

  10. Red light • If you run through a red light you can be fined • No matter if you are a motorcyclist or a scooter • Some states even have a red light cameras and will take pictures of your car if you break the law while driving and send you a ticket in the mail.

  11. Turning signals • If you do not use your turning signals, you can be ticketed.

  12. Parking • If you park somewhere where you are not supposed to be parked or don’t pay for parking, you can be ticketed.

  13. Parking in a handicapped space • If you park in a handicap space and you don’t have a handicap sticker, you can receive a big ticket
