  2. Form MAT B1 • Doctors or midwives • PART A – if issuing before confinement but not sooner than 20 weeks before confinement. • PART B – issued after confinement.

  3. Statutory Maternity Pay • Employed by same employer for at least 26 weeks up to qualifying week. • Earning on average at least the lower earnings limit (currently £97 a week). • Paid at 90% average earnings for 6 weeks and then £124.88 a week or 90% (whichever is less) for 33 weeks. • Keeping in touch days (10)

  4. SMP • Ask employer 4 weeks before claiming. • Earliest to start is 11 weeks before birth. • Latest is day after birth. • Dont have to return to work! • Can claim from 2 employers if working for 2! • Normally pay NI and tax on SMP.  • Need MATB1.

  5. Maternity Allowance • Employer gives SMP1 which take to job centre with MA1 • Eligible if: employed but don’t fullfill SMP, employed for atleast 26 weeks in 66 week test period and earned £30 week minimum over any 13 week period, self employed paying class 2 NI. • Pays 124.88 a week or 90% of average weekly earnings in test period (whichever is less)

  6. Employment and support allowance • Automatic if dont qualify for MA. • 6 weeks before birth and 14 days after. • Dont forget free presciptions with FW8. • Take MAT B1 to dentist.

  7. Statutory Paternity Pay (SC3) • If someones having a baby and you will be bringing them up. • (paternity leave – notice 15 weeks before baby due) • Same qualifying as SMP • Same pay. • 1 or 2 weeks continuous. • Notify employer my 15 weeks before due. • Give 28 days notice of change of date?!? • Anytime within 8 weeks of birth (not before)

  8. Sure Start Maternity Grant • £500 from 29 weeks to 3 months. • Also if adopting • If you or partner receive: income support, job seekers, income related employment and support allowance, or pension credit. (child tax credit or working tax credit) • Conditional on being educated by us (GP,HV or MW). • We need to sign part of the SF100.

  9. Healthy Start • Milk, fresh fruit &veg, infant formula, vitamins. • £3.10 week (sent every 4 weeks). • If preg and under 18 or other stuff on Sure start maternity grant. • Child under 4. • 1 voucher a week, 2 vouchers a week if under 1 and 1 voucher week if your pregnant. • Form HS01 online, phone or GP.

  10. Health in Pregnancy Grant • One off tax free payment of £190. • 25 weeks preg and given health advice. • 25th week before Jan 1st 2011! • Health start vouchers (HS01) – healthystart.nhs.uk • Sure start grant (SF100) – directgov.uk • SMP1 – directgov.uk • Paternity pay (SC3) – directgov.uk

  11. Post operation exercise • Varies depending on the operation. • Do not drive for 24hrs after general anaesthetic • Be able to wear seat belt comfortably, use all controls, look over shoulder and do emergency stop. • Lift with knees not back, things close to you. • Vaginal hysterectomy – 30-60min walks with 3 weeks. 1kg 2 weeks. Heavy house work 3-4 weeks. Swimming 3 weeks. Contact sports 6wks.
