  2. Curriculum Change • No more Modular exams. These have been replaced by terminal exams – end of Year 11 • Greater emphasis on progress in English and Maths • Shift to Progress 8 – measure for all • Shift in the number of BTEC subjects pupils are allowed to take • Qualifications will cancel each other and cannot be done together

  3. New Measures Attainment 8 Progress 8 Most crucial measure…..Will determine Ofsted (or not!) May be different subjects to Attainment 8 Less likely to be understood/reported publicly as not as simple as an Attainment 8 grade • Best 8 scores (from 3 buckets) • Averages out to a grade (+/-) • Most likely to be understood by parents…. Could this be an issue?

Choice vs. interest vs. aspiration • Key Stage 4 is intensive – and it does last two years • Your child is an individual – they should be guided by their own interests and abilities – not their friends, the teacher they like this year, what they think sounds impressive Where are we going? I was following you! Ask the ones at the back
