  2. There are 6 different types of pizza on a buffet. In how many different ways can a person choose 4 of those types to eat? One Minute Question

  3. Events are independent events if the occurrence of one event does not affect the probability of the other. Independent Events

  4. The act of tossing a coin 3 times is considered independent . Picking 2 successive socks from a drawer is not. Independent Events

  5. When rolling 2 regular 6-sided dice, what is the probability that the red one shows an even number and the blue one shows “3”? Independent Events

  6. If A and B are independent events, then P(A and B) = P(A)P(B). Independent Events

  8. What is the probability that a person has brown hair and brown eyes? What is the probability that a person with brown hair has brown eyes? What is the probability that a person with brown eyes has brown hair? Questions

  9. The probability that B happens, given the condition that A has happened (or also happens) is called the conditional probability and is written P(B|A). • Conditional Probability

  10. Are eye color and hair color independent events in this class? Question

  11. Events are dependent if the occurrence of one event affects the probability of the other. Dependent Events

  12. If A and B are dependent events, then P(A and B) = P(A)P(B|A). (It’s easier to change the sample space!) Dependent Events
