  8. Timetables and schedules Examples: The plane leaves at 4 p.m.When do courses begin this semester?The train doesn't arriveuntil 10:35 a.m.

  9. Structure : Positive Singular subject- add s or es Karen/ He/ She/ It works well in any situation. except I I work well in any situation. (no s or es) Plural subject – use the base form ( no s or es) The students/ You/ We/ They eat lunch at noon. If the verb ends in -y preceded by a consonant, change the -y to –ies. Anthony/He/ She studies hard.

  10. Negative Conjugate the helping verb 'do' (don't and doesn't) NOT the base form of the verb to make negatives. Examples: I/ You/ We/ They/The children don'tenjoy (base form) opera. Mario/He/ She/ It doesn'tbelong (base form) to the club.

  11. Questions Conjugate the helping verb 'do' (do or does) not the base form of the verb in question forms. Do -> I, you, we, they -> work in this town? Does -> he, she, it -> live in this city?

  12. Common present time expressions include: usually, always, often, sometimes, on Saturdays, on weekends , rarely, on occasion, never, seldom

  15. USES • Refer to events happening at the present moment in time. • Examples: • They are doing their homework at the moment. • Mary is playingtennis with Tom at the club right now.

  16. Talk about activities happening now • Examples: • The kids are watching TV. She is sitting down because she is tired. I am not learning German because this is an English class. Who are you writing to?

  17. Talk about activities happening around now, and not necessarily this very moment • Examples: • Sally is studying really hard for her exams this week. I am reading a really interesting book now. How are you brushing up on your English for the trip? We aren'tworking hard these days.

  18. Talk about activities happening in the near future, especially for planned future events • Examples: • I am seeing my dentist on Wednesday. Polly is coming for dinner tomorrow. Are you doing anything tonight? We aren'tgoing on holiday next week.

  19. Common present continuous time expressions include: at the moment, now, today, this week, this month, tomorrow, next week (for future arrangements ), currently

  20. Structure Positive : Conjugate the helping verb "be" (am/is/are)+ verb + -ing. I'm (I am) working today. You're (You are)/We’re (We are)/They’re (They are) working today. He's (He is) /She’s (She is)/ It’s (It is) working today.

  21. Negative : Conjugate the helping verb “be” (am/is/are) + not + verb + -ing. I'm not (I am not) coming this evening. You aren't (You are not) /We aren’t (We are not)/ They aren’t (They are not) coming this evening. He isn't (He is not)/ She isn’t (She is not)/ It isn’t (It is not) coming this evening.

  22. Questions: Question word + conjugate the helping verb 'be‘ (am/is/are) + subject + verb + -ing What amIdoing this afternoon? What are you/we/they doing this afternoon? What is he/she/it doing this afternoon?
