1. Working of planetary gearbox Introduction Planetary gearbox also known as inline or epicyclic gearbox. The working of planetary gearbox is based on bevel gear train system. The centre gear which is called sun gear rotates around itself and initiates the power to other gears called planet gears which rotates to itself and around sun gear too. The planetary gear system is useful when the applications output and input is in same way. Working of Epicyclic Gearing The epicyclic gearing is directly compared with solar planetary system. Like our planetary system the sun gear rotates to itself and initiates the rotation for planet gears which can be more than two. Planet gears rotates to sun gear as well as to itself too. Planet gears initiates the rotation of internal gear. By using a planetary gearbox, the torque is separated over 3 gears therefore the torque is almost 3 times more than a typical gearbox. The rotation power generated by sun gear applied to multiple planetary parts, which can be employed to run an outer ring or a shaft. The number of torque is depending on how many planetary gears are running in the system. The ratio of torque can increase by increasing the number of planetary gears.
