  2. Types of employment in the cotton industry The cotton industry employs people on farm and secondary industries. Cotton farming also supports other industries when they consume their goods and services.

  3. Agronomist Agronomists are scientists who look for ways to increase soil productivity.

  4. Biochemist Biochemistry is the study of the chemical substances and vital processes occurring in living organisms. Biochemists focus heavily on the role, function, and structure of biomolecules. The study of the chemistry behind biological processes and the synthesis of biologically active molecules are examples of biochemistry.

  5. Classer A classer is one that classifies the quality of produce such as wool, cotton, or tobacco.

  6. Developer Developer may refer to: Software developer, one who programs computers or designs the system to match the requirements of a systems analyst. Web developer, a programmer who specializes in, or is specifically engaged in, the development of World Wide Web applications.

  7. Designer A designer is a person who plans the look or workings of something prior to it being made, by preparing drawings or plans.

  8. Entomologist Entomology (from Greek ἔντομος, entomon "insect"; and -λογία, -logia) is the scientific study of insects, a branch of zoology.

  9. Economist An Economist is an expert in economics.

  10. Farmer The farmer is aperson who owns or manages a farm.

  11. Farm Manger The farm manager is a person who helps the farmer manage his/her farm.

  12. Geneticist A geneticist is a biologist who studies genetics, the science of genes, heredity, and variation of organisms.

  13. Hydrologist The hydrologist engages in the scientific study of the properties, distribution, and effects of water as a liquid, solid, or gas on the Earth's surface, in the soil and underlying rocks, and in the atmosphere.

  14. Irrigation Specialist The irrigation specialist is responsible for the programming, operation and maintenance of the golf course irrigation system.

  15. Journalist The journalist is a person who writes for newspapers or magazines or prepares news to be broadcast on radio or television.

Knitting textile machine operator Knitting textile machine operators operate or tend textile machines that perform textile processing and manufacturing operations, such as winding, twisting, knitting, weaving, and cutting, using knowledge of machine functions.   20. Occupational Health and Safety Occupational safety and health (OSH) also commonly referred to as occupational health and safety (OHS) or workplace health and safety (WHS) is an area concerned with the safety, health and welfare of people engaged in work or employment.

  21. Pest checker The pest checker checks which pests are in the cotton, and reports if they are harmful or beneficial to the cotton to the farmer.

  22. Quality assurance auditor The quality assurance officer has amoung their primary tasks and competencies the role of a quality assurance auditor and are associated with ensuring that the product meets the required quality standards.

  23. Researcher A cotton researcher conducts research and facilitates development that enhances the production of cotton for the farming enterprises.

  24. Shippers Shippers transport Australian cotton to other countries to be manufactured into products.

  25. Tractor driver The tractor driver operates and maintains a tractor while using a variety of implements including an airseeder, sprayboom and bale handler.

  26. University lecturer The university lecturer educates students about various aspects of the cotton industry from agronomy through to textile design.

  27. Vocational trainer The vocational trainer is responsible for training students in the practical aspects of growing cotton, e.g. Pest counting, irrigation, or how to harvest cotton.

  28. Weed chippers Weed chippers are people walk between each row and chip out the weeds using chipping hoes.

  29. EXcelspreadsheet data technician The Excel spreadsheet data technician checks which pests are in the cotton, and reports if they are harmful or beneficial to the cotton to the farmer.

  31. Zone marketer in cotton commodities The zone marketer in cotton commodities promotes cotton products in a region.
