The objective: Facing 1000m-span bridges, 500m-height tall buildings, 300m-hight dams Key issues: Simulation and verification of Strong earthquake and typhoon fields Simulation and verification of nonlinear dynamic damage and collapse of infrastructure Failure model optimization and control of infrastructure 面向重大工程——千米级大桥、五百米级超 高层建筑、三百米级高坝等 聚焦重大科学问题 ——强地震动场和强/台风场模拟、集成与验证; 重大工程结构构件、结构整体及其耦合介质的非线性动力损伤演化与灾变过程模拟、集成与验证; 重大工程结构动力灾变的失效机理、失效模式优化与灾变控制

Simulation, analysis and design of civil infrastructure under strong earthquake or wind could be realized not only possibly, but also more accurately and more finely • How to get more accurate action and models of strong earthquake ground motion and Hurricane velocity fields? • How to establish the fine computational models of infrastructure such as huge bridges, buildings and dams? • How to numerically, physically or hybridly simulate the damage evolution and collapse process of infrastructure such as huge bridges, buildings and dams? • How would the properties and models of structural materials, members and systems effect on the damage evolution and collapse process of infrastructure such as huge bridges, buildings and dams? • How to improve and even optimize or control the damage evolution and collapse modes of infrastructure such as huge bridges, buildings and dams?

Groups of Projects Supported,2008-2010 项目群设置 Total projects: 85, in which KP. 25 (E2.5 M¥), GP.60 (E0.5M¥) Group 1: Strong ground motion fields and disaster evolution of high dams and underground structures Group 2: Disaster evolution of Buildings and bridges Group 3: Strong wind / Typhoon fields and disaster evolution of buildings and bridges Group 4: Simulation systems for disaster evolution of civil infrastructure 总计85个项目,其中重点项目25个(另加2个)、培育项目项目60个,按照关键科学问题划分为4个项目群: 第一项目群:强地震动场、地下结构与高坝灾变 22个项目(重点7个,培育15个) 第二项目群:建筑与桥梁结构地震灾变 43个项目(重点10个,培育33个) 第三项目群:强/台风场以及建筑与桥梁结构风致灾变 18个项目(8个重点,10个培育) 第四项目群:重大工程动力灾变模拟系统 4个项目(2个重点,2个培育) Most of projects finished Some of key projects on going

NSFC-JST Cooperation onEvaluation and mitigation of environment and natural disaster impact on urban area and infrastructures Modeling, simulation and prevention of influence of disaster caused by earthquake Modeling, simulation and prevention of influence of disaster caused by typhoon Long-term performance degradation and disaster evolution caused by  environmental effects ( including materials and infrastructures) Finished • 2010-2012: 4 Joint projects supported for 1.5M¥+1.5 M¥/E • Tall building damage and control under earthquake • Passive control of large bridges under earthquake • 2D turbulence testing for long-span bridges • Numerical simulation and visualization for DECISEW

NSFC-NSF Collaboration for Disaster Evolution/Resilience of Civil Infrastructure and Urban EnvironmentBased on DECISEW and NEES • 2012-2017: • NSFC planed to support 6 joint projects for 3 M¥/E2 and 4 projects were supported respectively in 2011 and 2012 Each project will last 5 years • USA partners have on-going NEES projects.
