  1. Luxury Interior Design Trends in Mumbai

  2. Colours are the New Neutrals • Colours like soft peachy corals and terra cotta, pastels and soft hues will replace the neutrals. Golden yellow tones matched with velvets and leathery finishes are the new trend. Tiles, cabinetries and walls serve as opportunities for more colour. Shades of pink that are a more sophisticated version of the millennial pink we’ve seen in recent years appear to be more in trend in 2020.

  3. Sustainable Materials • Sustainability has become incredibly important in this day and age. Thankfully, people are more knowledgeable and willing than ever before. This drives them towards making ethical buying habits, which reflects in the overall design sensibility as well. Sustainably harvested materials include acacia and rattan in fixtures.

  4. Easy-to-Use FixturesEven renters can tailor a place with swag fixtures, now that portables are no longer limited to tables and floor lamps. Lighting fixtures don’t just brighten the room, they are a bold detail. They’re ideal for anyone who wants to invest in statement lighting pieces without the long-term commitment of hardwiring. They’re the perfect balance between cultured form and convenient functionality.

  5. Patterned EverythingPatterns, especially layering patterns is becoming more and more prevalent. The highlight of this trend is, there are no rules. Colour palettes are used to tie together patterns and materials of different scales and origins. It is an effortless way of bringing more drama and style into a design.

  6. Bold ContrastDramatic, high contrast is making a comeback. It makes an otherwise monochromatic, neutral room a fresh dose of crispness and even fresher take on neutrals. Bold combinations of black and white feel timeless. Playing around with different materials of the same colour family is a fun element in bold contrasting designs.

  7. Wallpapered CeilingsThis is another great way to incorporate contrast in a design. There really is no better surface for wallpaper as it won’t get damaged and has a large surface area. There are so many different ways to do this, you can use contrasting, bright coloured patterns, or make a monochrome space by matching it with the colour of the walls, the possibilities are endless.

  8. Natural LuxuryWe have already been seeing more natural materials with a luxurious spin like marble finishes in bathrooms and kitchens and also marble accents such as vases and other décor elements. Old world materials like plaster and lime wash also seem to be making a resurgence. House plants, natural materials like cane, yarn, grass cloths and raw/rustic woods seem to be in trend too.

  9. Two Toned KitchensThe classic all white kitchens are slowly phasing out into two toned kitchens instead, black base and white uppers, mostly, along with blending wood with colour to add a bit of pop, like on an island. Colour and pattern mashups, including appliances, continues to trend.

  10. Unique Rugs • Interesting and unexpected materials are starting to become more mainstream in rugs. Funky patterns and geometric shapes with colour blocks are more in style than ever before. They add a statement look to any design with an otherwise basic or monochromatic look. Rugs don’t have to be rectangular and plain anymore, they should be had fun with. It is like having a piece of art on the floor.
