  6. 9th Grade Science Placement Process • Recommendation of 8th Grade Teacher. • Scoring on Learning Characteristics Rubric • Grade 7 Science Grades (MP 3 & 4) • Grade 8 Science Grades (MP 1 & 2) • Standardized Test Scores in Mathematics and Language Arts Note: Placement is pending NJ ASK 8 Scores

All New Jersey public high school students, regardless of grade level, who are enrolled in a first-year biology course any time … must take the NJBCT. The following course titles are included as exemplars: • Resource Center Biology • ESL Biology • General Biology • Life Science • Foundations in Biology • College Prep Biology • Honors Biology • Accelerated Biology

Topics • Characteristics of Life • Cell Structure & Function • Energy Transfer (Photosynthesis & Cellular Respiration) • Cell Division (Mitosis & Meiosis) • Molecular Biology • Genetics • Evolution • Microorganisms • Ecology • Format • Administered over 2 days in the middle of May • Multiple choice • Performance assessment
