  1. ➢ Reflection of sound wave is the change in direction of a wave at the interface between two different media so that the wave returns into the medium from which it has come from. Sound reflects from extended polished or rough hard surfaces or obstacles such as a wall, a metal sheet, a cliff, etc. of large size.

  2. There are three characteristics of sound namely, pitch, loudness and quality. Pitch determines the shrillness of sound and depends of the frequency of sound produces and the relative motion between the sound and the listener. Higher is the frequency of sound higher will be the pitch and vice-versa. Frequency is the number of vibrations produced by a source and hence is a subjective quantity. Pitch is the number of vibrations perceived by a listener and hence is an objective quantity. Loudness is defined as the magnitude or volume of the sound that depends on its magnitu... Loudness is a subjective quantity while intensity is a measurable that is objective quantity. Amplitude of vibration, area of a vibrating body, distance from the source, density of the medium, motion of the medium, presence of other bodies, frequency of vibrating source are the factors which affect the intensity of sound. Quality is defined as the characteristic of sound that differentiates between the same loudness and pitch. Quality depends on the number, frequency and intensities of the overtones/subsidiaries present in the sound. Depending on the characteristics of sound, it is differentiated as noise or music. Music is a pleasant sound which is produced by series of similar pulses of sound following each other regularly and rapidly, without any sudden change in amplitude or loudness. While, noise is an unpleasant sound is produced by series of dissimilar pulses of sound following each other irregularly and slowly, with sudden changes in amplitude or loudness. Too many loud sounds in the surroundings result in noise pollution. Factories, vehicles, etc., are some sources of noise pollution. Noise pollution can lead to headache, hypertension and is even sever to heart patients and infants. Proper measures are needed to be taken to check noise pollution.         
