  1. Masterswitch Projekt Das Zentrum für Experimentelle Rheumatologie erhält Funding aus dem EU framework 7 geförderten Programm ‘MASTERSWITCH’. ‘MASTERSWITCH’ steht für Mechanisms to Attack Steering Effectors of Rheumatoid Syndromes with Innovated Therapy Choices. Dieses Programm läuft von 2008-2013 unter der Beteiligung von 12 akademischen Partner und 3 SMEs. Ziel von MASTERSWITCH ist es durch Zusammenarbeit der verschiedenen, multidisziplinären Zentren neue, spezifische anti-entzündliche Medikamente zu entwickeln. Dabei sollen mit Hilfe der Grundlagenforschung neue Moleküle identifiziert werden, die eine Schlüsselrolle in der Entwicklung der Chronizität von Entzündungen spielen und eventuell als neue therapeutischen Angriffspunkte benutzt werden könnten. Das Hauptaugenmerk von MASTERSWITCH liegt auf der Erforschung der Pathogenese der rheumatoiden Arthritis, da insbesondere bei dieser Erkrankung eine frühe Diagnose und Behandlung von grösster Wichtigkeit ist, um bleibende Schäden zu verhindern.
