  2. What are we going to do today? • Outline the DCSF key principles • Outline major changes to funding process in Croydon • What is to happen next? • Identify what you need to do

DCSF key principles to be achieved • Parents to have access to more flexible options in terms of pattern per week, numbers of hours per day and number of weeks per year • Increased free hours to 15 hours (September 2009 for some and September 2010 for all) • Child count (from 2009), funding methodology and funding to be comparable across all types of provision from (2010) • Methodology to provide stable but targeted funding that is cost efficient and will not fund too many empty places • Expectation that parental agreements operate for a term at a time • Suggest these are not totally compatible

Changes to funding process in Croydon • Agreed number of hours at start of year • Termly counts of hours by child by week • Funding adjustments each term to allow for changes in hours, up and down • £/hour same across all types of settings • Additional funding for children from deprived postcodes and where English is not the first language and for settings that open for longer hours and more weeks – will not be the same • Move to electronic info transfer - (easiest if you use the Capita system)

What is to happen next • Proposals going to Schools Forum • Proposals will then be published on Croydon EdNet in next two weekswww.croydon.lgfl.net and find Finance Matters on HT/admin drop down menu.Link on left side to funding 2009/2010. • Open meetings will be arranged • Return comments by late November 2008

  6. What do you have to do? • Have you supplied- email address?- bank details for funding transfers • Ensure separation of the free entitlement and extra chargeable time or other services and make these clear on each parental agreement • Attend open meetings and respond to consultation as well as adapt ready for the changes!
