  1. What Makes People Leave the UK? Key Questions: What makes people leave the UK? Would I want to leave the UK? If so, where would I go?

  2. Learning Objectives: • To understand what motivates emigrants from the UK. • O know the anchors and barriers to emigration, as well as the PUSH and PULL factors.

  3. STARTER Think of a country in the World where you would like to live, other than the UK. Brainstorm the PULL factors that would attract you to that country. What are the most popular countries?

  4. Main Task • Read the email from Rob in Australia and look at the following pictures. • Highlight all the good and bad points about his emigration with different colours. • What anchors would stop you emigrating?

  5. Main Task Using the Internet research into your chosen country. Find out what it is like for people who emigrate there? Identify the PUSH and PULL factors and anchors you would face if you moved there. http://www.othercountries.com/ http://www.overseas-emigration.co.uk/
