  1. The basic guide and introduction to bongs

  2. So you might have binged watched Weeds, and the movie, Pineapple Express. And you are probably fascinated with the bong, and thinking of buying yourself one. Now before you buy yourself some bongs online, you must first be aware of what a bong really is. A bong is a water-filtered smoking apparatus that produce a smoother, cleaner, and cooler smoke. By the use of water, the bong filters the smoke from dried herbs, so that heavy residue particles do not enter the body’s respiratory system while smoking. Bongs are available in an almost unlimited array of shapes, sizes and styles. Bongs are composed of 3 distinguishable parts and features in their construction. And they are:

  3. Water Chamber: This is the bottom part of the bong and the part is where the water is held, which acts as the filtering agent and the one responsible cooling the herbal smoke so that it feels easier on the person’s throat and lungs when inhaling it.

  4. Vertical Tube: Once the herbal smoke passes through the water chamber, it then flows upward through an elongated neck, called a vertical tube, and finally out through the bongs mouthpiece. In most bong designs the vertical tube is often straight, but more intricately designed ones opt to include elaborate chambers, which further filters the herbal smoke as well as create artistic beauty and aesthetics to the piece.

  5. Downstem This the diagonal stem that protrudes from a small opening in the bong. The bottom of the stem is located in the water chamber while the upper portion of the downstem is served into a receptacle for a bowl. The downstem’s primary purpose is to draw the air and herbal smoke into the water within the water chamber as the user inhales. This process is what creates the bubbles within the water chamber of the bong.

  6. Bongs functions and physical structure are very similar to hookahs, which are also based using water as a filtering agent. Bongs only 2 differences with hookahs are that bongs are relatively much smaller and bongs do not require hoses. While any kind of vessel or container that is both air and water tight can technically used to fashion, construct, and transformed into a functioning bong, most modern and user-friendly bongs are created using pieces made from quality and durable materials such as acrylic, wood, ceramic, and glass.
