  5. Topic: • Usually assigned by teacher • Sometimes, you will be able to pick your own topic

  6. Introduction • This is the first paragraph of your essay. • This paragraph presents your topic and creates the purpose your paper. • “This is what I’m going to talk about” • Generally, the introduction begins with a broad statement and narrows down to your thesis. • It includes a thesis.

  7. Thesis statement • Thesis statement is the last sentence of your introduction. • It includes your subject and opinion. • Uniforms are great idea because XXXXX, XXXXX and XXXXX.
