  1. Project ROH Codepink 3/24/09 Sya 4110

  2. Introduction • Over the last decade there has been a major shift in economy, forcing people to make choices about what needs the can and can’t meet. • As it has been noted in many accounts on the news a failing house market has been the cause for much of these issues. • One question remains unanswered by all, “How do we keep our homes, when the market and jobs fail?”

  3. Introduction (continued) • The answer is simple in most countries, you don’t. • That’s where project ROH steps in.

  4. What is Project ROH • ROH stands for Reclaiming Our Homes. • This program is designed to teach present and future homeowners how to keep their homes in perilous economic times. • The program also has a home bailout system that saves these homeowners from foreclosure

  5. Home Loss Prevention • Project ROH is dedicated to promoting homeownership and home loss prevention • This program would offer present and future homeowners courses on how to prevent home foreclosure. • It would consist of a six week program to teach students the ins and outs of the housing market

  6. Home Recovery • The second part of the program would be a home recovery system. • The system would be much like a rental agreement • Project ROH would buy the house at the foreclosed rate • Then create a more feasible rate for the family based on it’s financial state.

  7. Social Affects • Since this program would be creating a system for families to save their homes it’s impact on a single community would be tremendous. • The families’ primary concerns of housing would be alleviated , the main income providers would be able to redirect those funds into other needs like food and transportation.

  8. Cost Projections • Since the average home mortgage In Gainesville is $1,121 per month it would save families thousands of dollars to pay a lower price on these homes. • If project ROH saved at least 3 homes a year and refinanced the loans at a lower no interest rate the savings would be in the 100 thousands within 5 years.
