  5. REQUIRED PAPERWORK VHSL PHYSICAL EXAMINATION FORM- NEW EXAMINATION IS REQUIRED FOR EACH SCHOOL YEAR – MAY 1ST OF CURRENT YEAR THROUGH JUNE 30 OF SUCCEEDING YEAR. STUDENTS MAY NOT TRY-OUT OR PRACTICE WITHOUT A COMPLETED VHSL PHYSICAL EXAMINATION FORM. ALL STUDENTS MUST HAVE INSURANCE – insurance may be purchased through FCPS. STUDENT AND PARENT MUST COMPLETE CONCUSSION INFORMATION COURSE ON-LINE AT www.fcps.edu/sports EMERGENCY CARE CARD INFORMATION MUST BE COMPLETED PARTICIPATION POLICY- SR&R ALL PAPERWORK CAN BE FOUND AT: WWW.FCPS.EDU/SPORTS

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS • STUDENT IN GOOD STANDING • 9TH GRADERS IMMEDIATELY ELIGIBLE FOR 1ST SEMESTER SPORTS • FOR FIRST SEMESTER MUST BE ENROLLED IN AT LEAST 5 SUBJECTS OR EQUIVALENT CREDIT • MUST HAVE PASSED A MINIMUM OF 5 CLASSES OR CREDITS THE PREVIOUS SEMESTER • 2 SEMESTERS- FALL AND SPRING REPEAT COURSES THAT STUDENT HAS BEEN GIVEN CREDIT WILL NOT COUNT TOWARDS SPORTS ELIGIBILITY. COACHES HAVE ABILITY TO SUSPEND ATHLETES DUE TO POOR GRADES DURING THE SEASON.

  7. CONDITIONING • BEFORE THE SEASON BEGINS SPORTS WILL PREPARE STUDENTS WITH CONDITIONING WORKOUTS-INCLUDES RUNNING AND WEIGHTS • ALWAYS WILL BE OPTIONAL • IF PLAYING A SPORT YOU ARE NOT EXPECTED TO DO ANY CONDITIONING FOR ANOTHER SPORT • NOT PART OF TRYOUT CRITERIA • USUALLY AFTER-SCHOOL

TRY-OUTS • ARE OPEN TO ALL STUDENTS WHO MEET SCHOOL AND VHSL ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA • TEAM SELECTION BASED ON SPORTS SPECIFIC SKILLS, ATHLETIC ABILITY AND ATTITUDE. • TRYOUTS ARE A MINIMUM OF 3 DAYS • STUDENTS WILL BE TOLD IN A RESPECTFUL MANNER ABOUT TEAM SELECTION-NO CUT LIST • COACHES WILL DECIDE LEVEL OF PLACEMENT.

  9. COST OF PLAYING SPORTS • SPIRIT PACKS COST $30-$300 • STUDENTS WILL BE FUNDRAISING • ALL PARENTS ENCOURAGED TO JOIN ATHLETIC BOOSTER CLUB—MONEY RAISING ORGANIZATION TO SUPPLEMENT SPORTS.

  10. PRACTICES • PRACTICES USUALLY 5/6 DAYS A WEEK. • NO SUNDAY PRACTICES OR GAMES • PRACTICES USUALLY 2-3 HOURS IN LENGTH • PRACTICES MANDATORY • TIMES AND LOCATION VARY • STUDENTS WILL NEED NOTE FROM TEACHER IF GOING TO BE LATE • CALL AHEAD IF STUDENT IS SICK

  11. GAME DAY • STUDENTS MUST BE IN SCHOOL ALL DAY TO BE ELIGIBLE TO PLAY/PRACTICE • ALL ABSENCES MUST BE APPROVED BY DIRECTOR OF STUDENT ACTIVITIES. • ALL STUDENTS MUST RIDE BUS TO AND FROM THE GAME • PARENTS WILL NEED TO VOLUNTEER TO HELP SELL TICKETS/SCOREBOARD/CONCESSIONS.

  12. Centreville High School Athletic Boosters A Non-Profit organization for the benefit of all athletics at Centreville High School run by parent volunteers.

  13. What is the CVHS Athletic Boosters? • We support CVHS athletics by: • Volunteering • Communication • Membership Sales • Concessions • Spiritwear • Financial support • Fundraising • Finding Corporate Sponsors • Support Summer Sports Camps

  14. Financial SupportThe FCPS budget does not cover all CVHS Athletic Expenses.Below is the 2018-2019 Boosters Income breakdown. Income comes from: *36% Fundraising/Sponsorships *31% Membership-That’s YOU! *18% Concessions *7% Spiritwear

  15. Booster ExpensesExamples of expenses from this year. Hard Costs: *Turf Loan & Track $56,975 *Scholarships $2000 *Uniforms & Equipment: Girls Soccer, Boys Soccer & Girl’s basketball $12,200 *Softball & Baseball Field maintenance $6450 *Football Helmets and Shoulder Pads $5009

What you need to know: • FCPS typically funds Coaches Stipends, Team Transportation, Game Referees and some Sports Equipment & Reconditioning. • CVHS Athletes rely greatly on CVHS Athletic Boosters Financial Support to operate & be competitive. • Save Time and Money and Buy our Booster Membership Passes to all regular season Home games. All proceeds support CVHS Athletics. • Become a sponsor! See your company banner at the turf fields, baseball/softball fields and the gym. • CVHS Athletic Boosters is a 501c3 Non Profit and happily accepts Tax Deductible Donations to fund our programs. • CVHS Athletic Boosters provides financial support to fund facilities improvements, equipment and uniforms but can’t do so without your support. • New Sports Uniforms traditionally go to Varsity Teams and are passed down to JV & Freshman teams as they are replaced. • Boosters rely on you! Please become a Booster Member in August. Volunteers are always needed. Consider joining the CVHS Athletic Booster Board next year. • It’s fun to be a part of the Athletic Boosters. You are really making a HUGE difference for the entire Wildcat Sports Community.
