Opportunities to INSPIRE K-12 girls towards Technical career path Themes: Need to create stronger presence and emphasis on K-12 grades, including education for girls, educators and parents – entire support network Multitude of diverse programs in existence; large companies have mentorships and school engagement, new emerging startups focusing on girls engagement in technology (Girls who Code, Chick Tech, etc.) Need to focus on Elementary – Middle school age, and target the opportunity for girls – make technical career path relevant CATC Opportunities: Explore the Highland School of Technology as a potential success model; identify key success factors and determine how to leverage and scale Sponsor a Hackathon event for Charlotte girls to generate interest and awareness; leverage the event to provide education to girls support group (Family, Educators, etc.) Establish Year Round business sponsored events – partnering with schools to increase interest and awareness; starting with business participants from Sept 12th event and build on momentum Use CATC/WISE Social Media to highlight all the possible opportunities; One portal for info Create content on social media to highlight some role models and opportunities in Charlotte (i.e. videos, pictures, articles) from CATC/WISE members and partners

  5. Opportunities to Advance Women • Bring local corporations together to partner with local universities to develop curriculum tailored to what companies need • Include Society for Information Management (SIM), Women’s Focus Group, Members in Transition

Highlights to Advance Women • Connectory of resources (be able to leverage existing resources better) • Master list of events • Master list of organizations, affinity groups, other • Master list of resources available • Pathways to career including transferable skill building • How do you grow into a technical career track • Create a culture of opportunity • Encourage starting and participating in affinity groups • Increase confidence • Decrease isolation • Increase authentic connections • Breakdown stereo types • Advocate for curiosity • Hire women and minorities in cohorts

Opportunities to GROW Women • Themes: • Radical Candor! • There is joint responsibility for women’s advancement - men and women currently in leadership roles and those women looking for leadership roles • More open discussion and transparency will breed more knowledge and confidence • Broad recognition of the power of connections made in the room, and that they have to be capitalized upon • Potential CATC Opportunities: • Provide a regular forum/event for companies (e.g. SealedAir) to present their D&I efforts, successes and lessons learned; enable community to share and learn from one another (not just women) • Sponsor a monthly women development series to address skills associated with career development; include technical, professional and personal skills - targeting women specifically • Serve as the administration and management entity responsible for: • A central landing area (site) to bring together all the different ecosystem participants, reflect an inclusive calendar of events, and share participation opportunities with the Charlotte tech community (benefit of association with CATC) • Identifying and responding to grant opportunities, soliciting/connecting with community partners to gather content, and coordinating written responses
