  10. Weekly Home Assignments- • Reading passage and comprehension questions that focus on: • Finding the main idea • Recalling facts • Inference • Synonyms/antonyms • Organizing binders and review of assignment book

  11. Course Grades- • Separate grade for English and reading • Grades are determined using the following categories: - Homework - Classwork - Assessments (tests, quizzes, projects, and writing assignments)

  12. Important Sites- • Teacher Sites Homework, important dates for projects and tests, web links, etc. • Parent Portal Grades for completed assignments

  13. Academic Honesty Policy • Academic honesty means avoiding lying, copying, cheating, and plagiarizing in all forms and taking responsibility and ownership of your own work. • Unamiexpects each student’s best and honest effort(s), with learning, not grades, being the primary goal.

  14. Lying – Verbally misrepresenting the completion or location of an assignment. For example, saying any of the following when they are not true: “I left it at home,” “My printer is out of ink,” “I lost my flashdrive.” • Copying – Using another student’s work (authorized or unauthorized) as an aid/tool to complete your own. For example: copying homework and/or classwork, sharing answers to assignments.

  15. Cheating – Giving or receiving unauthorized assistance on any academic assessment (quiz, test, project, report). For example: looking at another student’s paper, using cheat sheets, using electronic aids/devices, discussing assessment content (e.g. “What’s on the science test?”). • Plagiarizing – Passing off the ideas or words of another as one’s own. For example: copying and pasting from a published source, using others’ ideas, words, or images in your paper without citing your sources, turning in someone else’s work as your own.

Consequences…vary by offense (1st-2nd-3rd) • Infraction will be reported to the main office and noted under the Infinite Campus behavior tab. • Parents will be notified of the incident in writing. • Student will be assigned work session(s) to redo the assignment to proficiency for up to full credit/up to 70%/up to 50%). • Assignment must be submitted within 1 week or student will be removed from all extra-curricular activities until work is completed to proficiency. • Results in disqualification from membership or involvement in school organizations (e.g. National Junior Honor Society, Student Council, etc.) • 30 days/60 days social probation (2nd and 3rd offense)
