Educational Goal. • The student can choose between a Certificate, Associate Degree, or Transfer (with Associate Degree) to a University. • The more a student knows about what they want to do and where they want to go, the shorter their educational pathway will be toward that goal.

Educational Goal – contd. • - There are a wide range of Certificates that can take anywhere from 1 semester to several years to complete. • Example: an Occupational Skills Certificate in Culinary Arts- Catering is only 6 units. • Example: A Certificate of Achievement in Digital Media- Graphic Design is 48 units.

My Community College Major will be • Check the box for either: • Specific Departmental Major (i.e. Music), or • General Studies Major (choose between: Arts & Humanities, Social & Behavioral Sciences, Natural Sciences, or Liberal Studies)

My college assessment test placed me in Math course #___ • Enter the Math course indicated on student’s Assessment results. • Item 6- contd. In order to achieve my Educational Goal, I must take and pass Math course #___ • Enter the degree applicable Math course the student needs to complete to achieve their “Educational Goal.”

In order to take the course above, I must FIRST take and pass the following Math courses: • In the box provided, list prerequisite, non-degree applicable (NDA) math courses. • Locate the number of units for the math course(s) in the Catalog and write that number under N (Need), IP (In Progress), C (Complete), and Total the units. Note: Non-degree-applicable (NDA) basic skills courses are designed to prepare students for success in college-level classes. NDA courses do not count toward a certificate or degree, and are not transferable.

  25. The MAJOR courses are the same as the Certificate, but we now add a minimum of 25 degree applicable general education course units (G.E. PROGRESS TRACKER) We will see all of the tools in action as we look next at what is required for a BA Degree .

Once completed, we will transfer the information from the gold sheet to page 3 of the Master Planning Worksheet. iGraduate Roadmap to Success

  41. Finishing the iGraduate Roadmap to Success iGraduate Roadmap to Success Now, total up all of the units in each column (N, IP, C) on the MASTER PLANNING WORKSHEET. Staple all the sheets together. You will have a rough picture of the courses and units needed for Angela to transfer to CSUN as a Child and Adolescent Development major.

  42. Finishing the iGraduate Roadmap to Success iGraduate Roadmap to Success The college counseling department will provide Angela with an OFFICIAL academic plan. She can use this Road Map to Success Academic Planning Toolto get started. Remember to update the Road Map to Success Academic Planning Tool with the information provided by the college.
