  4. Part I: The Problem The house is turning into a dump How can we avoid conflicts and fix it in a fair way?

  5. Part II: Analyze the problem People are busy with work and school Cleaning is taking a back seat We could lose our deposit

  6. Part III: Criteria Fair in money and time to all Prevents conflict Can be implemented immediately Enforceable rules

  7. Part IV: Brainstorming Brainstorm Solutions Hire a maid Pay other roommates Less rent for cleaning Official cleaning day a week Assigned chores for a month Chores done on specific days Clean after ourselves

  8. Hire a maid PRO CON • We don’t have to clean • Costs money • Some roommates may not have extra money

  9. Pay other roommates PRO CON • Extra money possible • Could cause resentment • Disagree on how much cleaning for dollars

  10. Less rent for cleaning PRO CON • Saves someone money • Could cause resentment just like paying others • Disagree on how much cleaning for dollars

  11. Official Cleaning day PRO CON • Fair • Work can be done quickly • Schedule Conflicts

  12. Assigned Chores PRO CON • Work gets done • Clear responsibilities • Repetition • Don’t clean after themselves

  13. Chores on specific days PRO CON • spreads work load out • Cleaning every day • Things get put off

  14. Clean after ourselves PRO CON • Fair • Dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, etc. is overlooked

  15. Part V: Organize • Narrowing it down • Be Financially fair • Acceptable to all • Not cause accusing of others • Prevent Conflict • Not be offensive • Implemented Immediately • Be enforced

  16. And the winner is…….. Official cleaning day with cleaning after ourselves It’s fair Things will be done quickly It is cheap

  17. Part VI: Yes we can We will implement immediately We will have short meetings after to raise concerns. We will use “I” statements to for issues

  18. Contingencies Slack will be picked up for emergencies An agreed chore will be left fro those who can’t attend Laziness or lack of participation will be addressed in the after meeting

  19. Conclusion Clean is good, Messes are bad This is fair Many hands make for light work
