Chapter 1 Introduction Prof. Dehan Luo 1 Course name,prerequisites(先修课)& textbook(教材) (1)Course name: Intelligent Instrumentation system, or Intelligent Sensor System (智能传感器系统), or Smart Sensors (2)Prerequisites (先修课): The students are expected to have basic knowledge on each of the following areas: (a)Computer Science: programming in a high- level language (b)Statistics: mean value(均值), variance(方差), probability function(概率函数) (c) Circuit Analysis: voltage, current, RLC circuits (3)Textbook:(教材) (a) Intelligent Sensor System (智能传感器系统 Chinese version and English version ) are required.   10. Chapter 1 Introduction Prof. Dehan Luo 5 Tests & Grading (考核与计分): (1) Tests (考核) There will be a midterm exam and a final exam. All tests will be closed-books, closed-notes. Tests will emphasize new material. (2) Grading (计分): The course grade(课程成绩)will be the weighted sum(加权和)of four grades (laboratory, home work and two tests). Grading will be straight scale (90-100 A, 80-89 B, 70-79 C, 60-69 D, below 60 F).   Weight (%) Laboratories 20 Home work 20 Final Exam 70 Intelligent Sensors System 1-10 School of Information Engineering

  11. Chapter 1 Introduction Prof. Dehan Luo 5 Tests & Grading (考核与计分): (3) Missed Tests(缺考): Missed tests can only be made up in case of emergency, and will require supporting documentation. Whenever possible, these issues should be discussed with the instructor prior to test date. (4) Collaboration vs(versus). Academic Dishonesty(提倡互学,反对作弊): Students are encouraged to exchange ideas and form study groups to discuss the course material, prepare for lab assignments and tests. However, discussions between different groups regarding laboratory assignments should be kept at the conceptual level.
