FOOD HYGIENE Food hygiene= it’s the science which studies the process of giving or getting the right type of food for good health and growth - The practice of properly chilling, cooking, cleaning food and avoiding cross- contamination to prevent the spread of bacteria in food Nourisment- the food and other substances that people and other living things need to live, grow, and stay healthy

  2. HEALTHY LIFESTYLE Healthy food: • balance, moderation, variety, quality, optimum quantity • Healty food habit

  3. The main hygiene rules : 1. Wash your hands with water and soap before and after your touch the food 2. Wash and clean the food and the countertops as often as you can when you are cooking 3. Learn about what kind of food you need to wash: -you have to wash with cold water the fruits and vegetables, including the ones with peel, do not use soap or detergent; - you do not have to wash raw meat and sea food ; 4. Properly defrose the food 5. Cook the food at the correct/recommended temperature

  4. 6. Properly store the food 8. Separate the food: -you have to separate the different types of food when you buy it , prepare it or store it. 9. Watch for the sell-by date:

FOOD SECURITY Any kind of food (raw; partially - cooked; cooked ) must have : - nutritional value; -healthy/salubrious - meaning not to endanger the healthy consumer The food must have some sensorial qualities : to taste, to smell and to look well as to impress the consumer. There are some strict hygiene rules in: -production; - storage -transportation -distribution -consumption.
