PPE In addition to your uniform (if provided), Ruan requires the following six items to be worn by all flatbed drivers anytime you are on duty and not driving: • Hard hat • Long pants • Safety vest or approved hi-visibility shirt • Safety-toe boots with internal metatarsal protection • Gloves • Safety glasses • Also - Any Customer Specific Additional Requirements – e.g. Hearing Protection

REMEMBER – Securement Guidelines – The Ruan Way • Minimum of two forms of securement per item • 2 forms in front / 2 in back / 1 every 10 feet – regardless of bulkhead • Enough chains / straps to account for 100 percent of the load’s weight • If a securement device is missing the stamp or tag, it is OOS • Bungees are not cargo securement devices – only tarp tie downs • Ruan equipment load limits: • 4 inch strap – 5000 • 2 inch strap – 3000 • 3/8 chain – 6000 • 5/16 chain- 4500

Pre Trip / Post Trip Pre Trip Perform a standard pre trip of the tractor and trailer Check battery box for the hydraulic lift Look for any cracks or bends in the rollers Ensure there are no tears in the straps Post Trip Repeat the pre trip items in reverse Check the middle of the rollers, as you will not be able to check during the pre trip If cones are available – be sure they’re not damaged or destroyed Replace if needed

Steps for Delivery Arrive at the delivery site and identify a safe area to roll off freight Slide the tandems into the forward position Move the trailer into position for delivery Remove all securement Release rollers Raise trailer (if needed) Drive forward – freight will roll off the back of trailer Move to a safe level area and secure the trailer for your return trip Depart the delivery site

  7. Steps for Delivery Identify safe area to roll off freight Most of the deliveries are direct to construction site These areas are not guaranteed to be “truck friendly” You will have telephone numbers for the customer/contractor if needed Remember – You are the Captain of the Ship

  8. Steps for Delivery Slide the tandems into the forward position - Perform this on a dry hard surface

  9. Steps for Delivery Move the trailer into the position for deliver. Please attempt to keep the drives on a hard surface

  10. Steps for Delivery • Remove all securement • If cones are available – place appropriately • Ensure no one walks around your delivery space • Use a spotter when possible Things can change quickly – keep your eyes moving

  11. Steps for Delivery Release the rollers via cam switch. Caution – When the rollers are released the freight is now able to slide off the back of the trailer

  12. Steps for Delivery Raise the trailer (if needed) via lever. CAUTION – Do not walk behind the trailer Do not allow others to walk behind the trailer

  13. Steps for Delivery Drive forward – freight will roll off the back of the trailer. Caution – this is a slow maneuver

  14. Steps After Delivery • Move to a safe and level area • Secure the trailer for your return trip • Securement devices stowed properly • Trailer lowered (if needed) • Lock the rollers • Tandems returned to a “travel” position

  15. Completing the Trip • Check that your paperwork is complete • Check that your equipment is returned to a safe/legal traveling configuration • Depart the delivery site • Perform post trip
