  1. The Refuge

  2. The Refuge • Psalms 91 • Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 They say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust." 3 Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare and from the deadly pestilence. 4 He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. 5 You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, 6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday.

  3. The Refuge • Psalms 91 • 7A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. 8 You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked. 9 If you say, "The LORD is my refuge," and you make the Most High your dwelling, 10 no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. 11 For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; 12 they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.

  4. The Refuge • Psalms 91 • 13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent. 14 "Because they love me," says the LORD, "I will rescue them; I will protect them, for they acknowledge my name. 15 They will call on me, and I will answer them; I will be with them in trouble, I will deliver them and honor them. 16 With long life I will satisfy them and show them my salvation."

  6. The Refuge • The Refuge • Psalms 46: 1-3 God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. 2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, 3 though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.

  7. The Refuge • Strong. • Psalms 91Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

  8. The Refuge • Protection from the storm: • Psalms 91 5 You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, 6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. • “You will not fear…”

  9. The Refuge • Psalms 91 • 9If you say, "The LORD is my refuge," and you make the Most High your dwelling, 10 no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. 11 For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; 12 they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.

  10. The Refuge • Psalms 91 • 14"Because they love me," says the LORD, "I will rescue them; I will protect them, for they acknowledge my name. 15 They will call on me, and I will answer them; I will be with them in trouble, I will deliver them and honor them. 16 With long life I will satisfy them and show them my salvation."

  11. The Refuge • Strong. • 2 Samuel 21 20 In still another battle, which took place at Gath, there was a huge man with six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot--twenty-four in all. He also was descended from Rapha. 21 When he taunted Israel, Jonathan son of Shimeah, David's brother, killed him. 22 These four were descendants of Rapha in Gath, and they fell at the hands of David and his men.

  12. The Refuge • 2 Samuel 22 • David sang to the LORD the words of this song when the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. 2 He said: "The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; 3 my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation. He is my stronghold, my refuge and my savior-- from violent people you save me. 4 "I called to the LORD, who is worthy of praise, and have been saved from my enemies…

  13. The Refuge • 2 Samuel 22 31"As for God, his way is perfect; the LORD's word is flawless. He shields all who take refuge in him. 32 For who is God besides the LORD? And who is the Rock except our God? 33 It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure. 34 He makes my feet like the feet of a deer and causes me to stand on the heights. 35 He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze. 36 You make your saving help my shield; your help has made me great. 37 You provide a broad path for my feet, so that my ankles do not give way…

  14. The Refuge • 2 Samuel 22 • 44"You have delivered me from the attacks of the peoples; you have preserved me as the head of nations. People I did not know now serve me, 45 foreigners cower before me; as soon as they hear of me, they obey me. 46 They all lose heart; they come trembling from their strongholds. 47 "The LORD lives! Praise be to my Rock! Exalted be my God, the Rock, my Savior!
