Itinerary Monday, January 6th Breakfast at Golden Corral Jamestown Settlement Snack on Bus Mount Vernon Joe’s Souvenir Shop Dinner at Pentagon City Mall 7:00 hotel check in Comfort Inn, Springfield, VA Tuesday, January 7th Breakfast at hotel Amish County Lancaster PA Dinner at Miller’s Smorgasboard

Wednesday, January 8th Breakfast at hotel Arlington National Cemetery-Wreath Laying Ceremony Iwo Jima & Air Force Memorial Lunch at Reagan Building Food Court Memorials: World War II, Vietnam Lincoln, Korean National Archives Holocaust Museum Dinner at Hard Rock Thursday, January 9th Breakfast at hotel Embassy Row Washington National Cathedral Memorials: Jefferson, FDR, MLK White House for Picture Stop Lunch at the Reagan Building Food Court US Capitol Building Friday, January 10th Arrive at GRMS: 8:30am – 9:00am at GRMS

  4. Here we go…Washington, d. c. bound When: Sunday, January 5th through Friday, January 10th Report to GRMS: 4:00pm Depart: 4:30pm Bus Ride: Approximately 13hrs. (each way) What You’ll Need: 2 BAGS (on the bus bag & under the bus bag)Purse/WalletMedication in original packaging only (if applies)

To Be eligible to attend any outside of school sponsored field trips. • No out of school suspensions. • Referred to the Dean, twice for any infraction or a full day of in school suspensions. • Students must be in good academic standing in ALL classes, C average (or better) and no F’s. Grades will be checked prior to participation in any event or attendance on any trip. • Students must attend school regularly to be eligible. Students may not accrue more than 15 absences. • Administration may revoke a student’s eligibility at any time. • Students must fulfill their financial obligations (library fines, lost books) prior to end of year events.

  6. MOVING RIGHT ALONG… • Bus stops every 2 – 3 hours, and you MUST get off the bus at each stop • All busses load boys in front, girls in back (or vice versa) once your seat always your seat • Food is allowed on the bus if you keep your area clean, only drinks with screw lids. NO ENERGY DRINKS • IF an adult is talking you are not talking or on your phone. • NO GUM!!!!! • Movies will be played throughout the trip.

DC TRIP Suggested packing list: • small duffel Bag/drawstring bag (goes on the bus with you) • deodorant • chapstick • wallet/purse • toothpaste/hairbrush • pair of gloves/ hat/scarf • change of clothes • coat/jacket for the bus ride • camera • electronics with ear buds (Remember YOU are responsible for these items) • snacks (NO GUM ALLOWED) • hand/feet warmers • pillow/blanket (if wanted for bus)

Con’t DC TRIP Suggested packing list: • suitcase/large duffel bag(for goes under the bus, Not accessible) • 5 changes of warm clothes, pajamas, socks and underclothes • 2 pairs of comfortable shoes (sneakers and/or boots) • long underwear (Long Johns) • sweatshirts/sweaters/fleece jacket • chargers for electronics • spending money for snacks, souvenirs and anything else you might want or need

  9. The weather changes VERY quickly and you will be inside and outside, so layering is a good idea.

  10. Daily Routine • Report for Breakfast/debriefing at 7:00 am • Morning tours about 3 hrs. • Lunch is generally 1 hr. • Afternoon tours about 4 – 5 hrs. • Dinner is about 1 – 1.5 hrs. • Return to Hotel

  11. MEDICAL NEEDSAny medicine needs to be brought in a zip-lock bag in the original container with the following information: Students first and last name on the outside of the bag Statement giving permission to administer medications, including medicine name and dosage with parent/guardian signature Make sure medication bottle or box is in the baggie and DO NOTsend loose pills

Safety Rules: #1 Pay attention to any adult giving directions or tour guide is talking. • Be ON TIME! • Must remain in groups of 4 or more at all times • Understand that sometimes cell phones will not be allowed. • Keep your wallet in front your pocket • Keep your purse close to your body at all times • Never talk to strangers • Report any suspicious activity to your chaperone immediately • RESPECT at all memorials and museums.

  13. Hotel Comfort Inn 6560 Loisdale Ct. Springfield, VA 22150 • Students will stay 4 to a room and will be allowed to pick their roommates • Girls and Boys on different floors and don’t leave their assigned floor • Students will be taped in their hotel room each night and told to lock doors. ONLY open for chaperone • Security-will knock and tell you to be quiet, but will NEVER ask you to open the door. • We are not the only guest at the hotel. Students must be courteous to staff and other guests.

Cost of Trip $775.00 $250.00 Due by September 27th $250.00 Due by October 25th $275.00 Due by November 22nd $100.00 deposit is non-refundable-No refunds after November 22, 2019 Payment Options: Checks payable to GRMS & given to Ms. King in room 715- make sure student’s name is on the memo line of check Credit Card payments online https://www.schoolpay.com/link/DC2020 All Meals are covered while in DC You are responsible for Snacks and Souvenirs
