  1. Synthetic fibres or artificial fibres are the fibres that are developed by scientists to improve the naturally occuring plant and animal fibres. Synthetic fibres are made from synthesized polymers or small molecules. The compounds that are used to make these fibers come from

  2. raw materials such as petroleum based chemicals or petrochemicals. These materials are polymerized into a long, linear chemical that bond two adjacent carbon atoms. Differing chemical compounds will be used to produce different types of fibres. Although there are different synthetic fibers, they generally have the same common properties.

  3. ADVANTAGE OF By Tanya SYNTHETIC FIBRES • Synthetic fibres have a long lasting lustre. • They are east to clean • Theydryquickly. • They are long lasting as compared to natural fibres .

  4. They do not wrinkle and as such need very little or no ironing. • They do not shrink on washing. • They are less expensive than natural fibres. • Synthetic fibers do not depend either on an agricultural crop or on animal farming By tanya

  5. Disadvantages Of Synthetic Fibers Synthetic fibers melt on heating. It is risky to wear these types of cloth in kitchen and in laboratory. Synthetic fibers soak very less water, so it is very uncomfortable to wear these types of clothes in summer and in rainy seasons. -Abhishek

  6. Clothing industries use around 89,000 synthetic Chemicals in making of synthetic clothes. And people Think that these clothes are safe. But they can cause skin disorders like respiratory diseases and and even cancer . Synthetic clothes are non-biodegradable so, they cause a lot of pollution. -Abhishek

  7. The process by which artificial fibres are made from simple molecules is called Polymerisation
