Committee Responsibilities • M&F Committee is a special committee of the Board • Advisory to Board regarding issues surrounding membership and fees • Meets (via teleconference) about once monthly • Provides closer look at issues surrounding M&F than is possible during limited discussion time at Board meetings

  4. M&F Recommendations 2003-04 • Elimination of retrieval (query) fees • Elimination of library membership fees • Revisions to membership and deposit fees • Revisions to membership rules, categories of membership • Establishment of new content types and deposit fees • Component pricing • Theses and dissertations • Working papers

  5. Current discussion topics • Databases • How to price when there may be tens of thousands of deposits for a single database • Types of services that should be provided • Grey literature • Eligibility of institutional repositories for CrossRef membership • Characteristics of types of content suitable for deposit

  6. Volunteers Wanted! • The Committee needs new members • Any full member can serve on the committee • Good vehicle for getting involved (and known) • If interested, please contact either: • tingoldsby@aip.org • abrand@crossref.org
