  1. Why is Water Analysis for Agriculture Essential? We are all aware of the importance of the water in irrigation; thus, the water quality is crucial. Alkalinity, pH, and soluble salts are the most critical factors that determine the quality of water. The presence of calcium and magnesium or heavy metals has an impact on the irrigation system. To ensure that water quality is suitable for irrigation, water must be sent for testing at laboratories like SunBeam Laboratories provides high-quality testing equipped to test water for agricultural irrigation purposes.

  2. Test Water for Agricultural Irrigation Purposes. •  Water low in required nutrients affects the growth and aesthetic quality of the crop.  • · Water high in soluble salts can damage the roots inhibiting the proper nutrient absorption. The accumulation of salts in leaves lead edges to burn.  • · Water high in alkalinity adversely affects the pH interferes with the absorption of nutrients, resulting in nutrient deficiency, lowering the crop's quality. An ideal range for the pH of the water should be between 5.0 and 7.0.

  3. Water Analyzation • Water quality should be tested to ensure it is satisfactory for proper plant growth while minimizing pollutants' risk. Water should be filtered to prevent solids from getting and deposited in pipes, valves, nozzles, and emitters. Before selecting the filter method, it is essential to get a water analysis done.

  4. Evaluation of Water Quality • There are four significant problems pertaining to water quality are salinity, infiltration, toxicity, and miscellaneous. These four are used to evaluate water quality. Several factors are evaluated for each of the problem areas, such as: • The type and concentration of salts causing the problem; • The soil-water-plant interactions that may cause the loss in crop yield; • The expected severity of the problem following long-term use of the water; • The management options are available to prevent, correct, or delay the onset of the problem. • There are numerous things to be considered before a water sample is approved as fit for healthy crop production.
