  2. Tropical RainforestGeography & Climate Location: 30 North 30 Description: Central America, South America, West Africa, etc. Soil Type: Shallow Precipitation: 80 to 400 inches a year. Temp. Range: 70 to 85 degrees Climate: Lush and warm all year www.magictours.com.au/db/daten/AAA-Southern-Tropical-Rainforest-Maits-Rest-Jungle.jpg

  3. Tropical RainforestBiodiversity 3085 total species. Plants: Epiphyte, mosses, ferns, coniferous trees, (10-20 species) and broad leaf trees. Animals: Mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, butterflies, mosquitoes, stick insects, ants, chipmunks, monkeys. http://s3.amazonaws.com/mongabay/rainforests/epiphyte-639.jpg

  4. Tropical RainforestAdaptations Needed for Survival The epiphyte grows on the branches to take advantage of sunlight in the canopy. New World Monkeys have prehensile tails that curl around branches allowing them to hang from trees! http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51RC7AB8HVL._SL500_AA300_.jpg

  5. Tropical RainforestsInteractions of Biotic and Abiotic Biotic: The large trees compact soil holding it in place. Abiotic: Heavy rain helps the tree growth. http://www.magictours.com.au/db/daten/AAA-Southern-Tropical-Rainforest-Giant-Messmate-Tree-Grand-Ridge-Road.jpg

  6. What is Biodiversity? Biodiversity is the variety of life. It is studied at many levels. On the highest level, you can study all the species on Earth. On a smaller scale you study a pond, or a park.

  7. How does biodiversity contribute to the sustainability of an ecosystem? It helps an ecosystem by having more animals and plants. The more species you have, the bigger the food chain. If you have a big food chain that means that the ecosystem’s populations can be easily maintained.
