  20. Right Question. Right time. Right tool.

  21. Meet “COGNITIVE ASSESSMENT” Learn how recruiters are assessing and analyzing your responses

  22. CONTENT, PRESENTATION AND DELIVERY

  23. Content & Performance What they say AND how they say it MBAs need to: Be crystal clear on their brand, value, fit…and be able to articulate it Smile, exude energy and professionalism…be engaged and engaging Practice enough to work out the ums, ahs and pauses Weave the right keywords into their responses

  24. Example Role: Senior Analyst, Investment Banking Attributes in the posting: Self-motivated Team Player Organization Communications Analytical Skills in the posting: Numerical computation Spreadsheet models Gathering information Client presentations Approach: Think of stories and examples that match and then actually articulate the words in the response

  25. Example Behavioral question: Describe a time when you completed a task that no one thought you could. How did you manage to finish it? Response: “I suppose the best example I can give is the valuation project we had to complete at the end of last term. It was a major project and it wasn’t so much the scope of it, but the limited time we had to complete it. The best approach I figured was to analyze the steps needed and organize a logical plan. There were 3 of us on our project team, so I put a spreadsheet together with roles, targets and timelines and worked with everyone to execute each step according to the plan. I also ensured that if any member of the team struggled to meet a task or timeline, they communicate it to the rest of us. It was a very analytical approach but it was necessary and allowed us to get the project done on time.”

  26. Video Bios & Intros: sample outline Introduce themselves – their focus or their value proposition (“I help companies…”, ”My expertise is...”) Describe their ideal position/next move/where they fit in Briefly highlight relevant career experience, achievements, performance, credentials that apply to it If switching careers, focus instead on passion for it, any transferable value, and where they’ll fit in Talk about how they work, how they approach problems, lead teams Add something else that’s unique Be distinctive Repeattheir name (smile)

  27. Video Bios & Intros: sample outline Gather 3-4 points to highlight and practice talking about them Don’t memorize the intro, just know it “My name is Sylvia Lane and after 6 years in corporate leadership roles, I’m completing my MBA at _______. My goal is to move into investment banking, ideally right now as a Investment Analyst which would give me a great introduction to the business. I‘ve always followed the markets, it’s a real passion of mine, and I have a unique aptitude to anything analytical or numerical, which means I’d be the perfect fit to monitor sector trends, collate meta data, and provide the analytical perspective to help a company make smart investment decisions. I’m one of those people that can break a problem down in the most methodical way, and then communicate the results and analysis in a way that people understand. I work hard, I’m very driven, really self-motivated, and I’ve got 6 years leadership experience so I know how to get the most out of my teams.”

  28. Looking & Sounding their BEST – Tips & strategies Look for the length and number of recording attempts before starting Camera at eye level, frame head and shoulders Practice speaking to the camera lensto maintain eye contact (or move interviewer image to the top) Weave in keywords – introduce the attribute or skill, then briefly tell the story: “I’m actually known for my forward thinking, my ability to see around corners. For example, when I was Marketing Manager with…” Think in bullet points: “There are actually 3 reasons why I think I’m the best fit…” Aim for concise/succinct (time limits) Be authentic, confident, smile, be personable, show enthusiasm
