What is Information Technology? • Information Technology (IT) is the component of a technology involving the development, maintenance, and use of computer systems, software, and networks for the processing and distribution of data. • IT professionals strive to solve business/enterprise problems using computing resources.

Overview of DIT @OUM • The course is concerned with the design and implementation of information systems as well to understand the basic underlying principles of computing • The skills required of an information technology junior specialist include systems analysis, systems design, programming, database design and development, systems, hardware and operating system, and interpersonal communication skills, team skills and management.  • This diploma has been designed to meet this need, and will produce graduates who are competent and knowledgeable in the discipline, possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and who are able to critically analyse business problems and develop creative and innovative enterprise solutions.

Facts and Figures about DIT @OUM • DIT was first offered in Jan 2002 and is one of the pioneer programs at OUM. • A total of 460 learners had graduated thus far. • Currently a total of 300 students enrolled locally in this program • More than 200 part time tutors involved in conducting the program and dedicated 12 internal lecturers in overseeing the program • DIT received full accreditation from MQA in 2006 and it is recognized by JPA

  13. Career Prospects • The programme has been designed to meet the country’s growing need of junior IT professionals • In this regard, the graduates of this programme could become IT support, junior programmer, web developer, mobile apps developer, system/network support staff, etc.

Entry Requirement • Normal Entry •  Passed SPM/SPMV/MCE with 3 credits OR •  Posses at least minimum 3 grade B in Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) Senior Middle Three (SM3) OR •  Other equivalent qualifications recognized by the Government. • Flexible Entry • Malaysian Citizen • Age is at least 20 years old on the application year. • Work Experience; • Pass Flexible Entry test.
