  2. Functional Testing • Functional Testing is one of the types of software testing which can be defined as the each and every individual function of a software application needs to be operating with required specification. The major role of Functional Testing is to perform individual functions for a software application with respect to the requirements and specifications. Simply we can say that functions of a system need to be tested by given input and the output results should match with the expected results. • Functional Testing involves a black box testing technique in which the internal logic of system needs to be tested which is unknown to the tester. It can be done in two ways either through Manual Testing or Automation Testing.

  3. Working Process of Functional Testing • Initially performs the testing on main functions of an application • Identify the functions of a software application which need to be tested • It involves basic usability of User Interface, APIs, Security, Database, Server Applications and Functionality of the AUT • This testing checks the accessibility of the system • Execute the test cases • Perform to check error conditions like any other error messages are displayed or not • Finally make comparison between output results and the expected results

  4. Types of Functional Testing • Beta/Acceptance Testing • Integration Testing • Interface Testing • Regression Testing • System Testing • Sanity Testing • Smoke Testing • Unit Testing
