IRS has developed 2 practical tests • participant's death benefit must be no more than 100 times the expected monthly benefit • Aggregate premiums paid for participant’s insured death benefit are at all times less than these percentages of plan cost for that participant: “ordinary life” insurance 50% term insurance 25% Universal life 25%
