Essay Revision- Workshop WARNING: Body Paragraphs should not just be huge quotes with none of your own ideas or analysis!!! • Underline your THESIS/Claim in your introduction paragraph: • Do you have a Hook and are you including TAG (title author genre)? • Does your introduction contain your three reasons? • Underline your topic sentence in each body paragraphs: • Does it state what your paragraph is about? • Does your topic sentence and text-evidence back up your thesis? • Concluding sentences • Does your concluding sentence give your paragraph closure? • PLEASE SHARE! • Word Choice: • Circle any boring/ dead words • Circle and repetitive words and phrases • Replace them with vivid vocabulary

  4. Body Paragraph Double Check Highlight your topic sentences Check off your 2-3 quotes that support your topic sentence Do you explain your quotes? Do you tie everything back to your topic sentence and claim? Do your body paragraphs contain mostly YOUR words and not just quotes with no interpretations?

  5. Peer Editing Revision plans: With your shoulder partner, swap essays' and check off items they need to work on. Then complete the warm and cool feedback on the back of the revision plan. Use this feedback and your checklist to make revisions on your essay! Final Essay do printed in class Friday 2/14!! (Anyone going away is responsible for handing it in prior to leaving on their vacation)
