  1. MASSEY PRIDE

  2. What will the schedule look like?

  3. Why are we doing this? To give students an opportunity to learn in new and different ways. To provide students with an opportunity to get extra help from teachers when needed To give students an opportunity to extend their learning of interesting skills and concepts To give busy students an opportunity to complete homework while at school.

  4. What is your job? Students are expected to : Know what session they will be attending. Attend sessions they have been invited to. Arrive quickly to class. Bring required supplies to class (Please get these at lunch as there is no time to go to lockers). Make positive use of your time – This is designed to help you. This is a chance to gain a better understanding, make it easier for you to complete work, and finish work that would normally be done at home. If you are all caught up, this is not a time to “chill” – choose an extension session, organize your binder, read a book etc.

  5. What is the teacher’s job? To help you gain a better understanding of what you are learning. This may mean teaching you a concept in a new or different way, working with you in a small group or just being there to answer your questions. To give you time/support so you can complete work. Teachers will not be teaching new concepts. They may be re-teaching concepts, extending concepts, and/or giving you time to work.

  6. How do I know where I am going? • Students must check the list in their homerooms to see if they have been invited. Only the room number will show. • What if I wasn’t Invited? • Students who have not been invited must check the list of choices posted in their classroom

  7. What does the homeroom sheet look like?

  8. INVITE = selected students must attend all four unless released by the teacher to attend an open session • OPEN = students can choose to attend one, two, three or four sessions. However, students must stay for entire session Huh? Where do I go? Vocab Help

  9. We are extremely excited about this opportunity, and know that it will improve your learning and experience at Vincent Massey. • The first round of PRIDE begins September 30th. Let the Fun begin!
