Oil Changes Things • Largest sand desert – Empty Quarter • Least amount of water – not one body of fresh water • People lived in small villages along coast or on oases • Grew wheat, vegetables, and herded animals • Modernization • Desalination – process of taking salt out of water • Today most people live in the capitals of the countries located there • Reinvesting in the Nation • Foreign Workers
