6. 三 译文分析 • 一 文章分析 • 商品说明书是关于物品的用途，规格和使用方法的文字说明，其主要功能是 • 向消费者提供具体的商品特点和使用信息。商务说明书语言用来传递所说明商品 • 的基本信息，反映客观事实，用词简明、准确。一般不会用修辞手段，但为了生 • 动的说明其产品的特点，也经常用一些丰富多彩的形容词语和表达法。其中，被 • 动语态的使用最为常见。 • 1．说明书的构成 • 说明书的种类繁多，涉及到各个领域，如机械、电子、纺织、食品、医药、书 • 刊、电影电视和日用品等，其性质决定了各种各样的说明书具有一定的共性。一 • 般由以下几个部分组成： • (1) 产品的特性、功能和主要成分（结构） • (2) 安装或使用（操作、食用）的方法 • (3) 注意事项 • (4) 主要性能指示及规格

7. 2．说明书的特点 • 说明书属于应用文体，其功能作用在于传递信息的功能，起着辅助广告的作用。它主要通 • 过文字的使用突出介绍产品的优点、效果，有的也会附注一些注意事项等，从一定程度上可 • 以激发消费者的购买欲望，起着促进该产品的销售作用。 • (1) 句子结构简略 • 说明书所使用的句子结构比较简单。主要使用祈使句，注意复合词和名词、动词、形容 • 词等实词的使用。 • (2) 语言客观精确，同时具有感染力 • 说明书的目的是为了让消费者了解产品的特征和性能，以便作出正确的选择和正确使用 • 该产品。其内容客观真实，语言通俗易懂，但也可以适当的使用文学性语言来进行描述，以 • 增强其可读性和感染力。 • (3) 条式性风格突出 • 由于说明书所涉及的内容较多，一般采用条式性排列，使其内容清楚明了，方便使用者 • 阅读。 • (4) 字体和版面设计独具特色 • 为了达到吸引消费者的目的，往往采用一些不同于其他产品的特殊字体和版面模式来突 • 出该产品，如采用黑体字标题，或采用数字序号，或采用其它一些特殊序号来排列等。

8. （二）词句分析 例（1） • 1．Enrich your life with sing-along fun and friends! • 欢聚一堂，纵情歌唱，享受生活乐趣。 • （1） “enrich” 的原意是“使某人（某物）富裕，或者是改善某种质量”，在本句中翻译为“更加丰富您的……生活”。 • e. g. Reading enriches your mind. 阅读能丰富您的思想。 • （2） “sing-along fun” 中“sing-along” 是个合成词，意为“独自唱歌的……”。类似的词有很多，如：“play-along”, “eat-along”, etc. • 2．You will be delighted by the sensational Hi-Fi sound. • 悦耳的HI-FI（高保真）立体音令您欢欣。 • “sensational” 的原意为“极好的，绝妙的”，在本句中需译成“悦耳的”。 • e. g. That music is sensational. 那首曲子真好听。

The easy-to-use karaoke functions will magnify and expand the range and expressiveness of your voice. • 容易使用的卡拉OK功能，可以拓宽音域和增强声音的表现力。 • （1） “easy-to-use” 是个合成词，意为“容易使用的……”。 • （2） “range and expressiveness” 在本句中形容声音的特性，“range”的原意 • 为“范围”，在本句中翻译为“音域”, “expressiveness” 的原意为“表现感情或思 • 想的……”，在本句中翻译为“表现力”。 • 4.Simply load karaoke videotape, pick up the light and step into the spot light, and you become the star of your own karaoke show. • 只需放入卡拉OK录象带，拿起麦克风，您就会成为梦寐以求的卡拉OK歌星。 • （1) 本句为典型的商务说明书的语句，省略主语的用法在其中很为常见。 • (2) “pick up”在本句中要译成“拿起”，而不能翻译成其原有的意思“捡起，用车载 • 某人……”，“step into”在本句中译为“放入……”。

Never lose heart when you meet difficulty. • 遇到困难的时候永远不要灰心。 • e. g. Sandy lost his heart to Billy when they met in Manhattan. • 当山迪在曼哈顿遇见比利的时候就爱上了她。 • （2） “superb”的意思为“杰出的，极好的”, 商务说明书中经常会遇到这个单词 • 用来形容某种产品的特质和性能，需翻译成“功能卓越的”。 • e. g. The sports facilities are superb. • 这些体育设施真是功能卓越。

(二）词句分析 例（2） • 1． 产品的英文名称为“develop lesson”，在翻译商品说明书的时候，经常会遇到类似的需 • 音译的词语，如一手表的品牌为“citizen”, 如翻译成中文的商标名称就不能按其中文意思 • 翻译成 “市民”，而需根据其读音翻译成中文谐音“西铁城”。 再如相机品牌“canon”, 翻译成 • 中文名称可根据其谐音翻译成 “佳能”，而不能按其原有的中文意思翻译成“原则，标准”之类 • 的词汇。所以需把这个品牌按其发音的中文谐音翻译为“德立邦-立鲜”。 • 2．Richly contains Nacocoyl special effective ingredient extracted from coconut oil via high-tech method. • 富含用高科技手段从椰果中提取的椰油两性醋酸（NACOCOYL）特效成分。 • （1） “effective ingredient” 的意思为“有效的成分”。 • e. g. Mix all the effective ingredients in a bow. • 把所有的有效成分都放置到一个碗里。 • （2） “via” 的意思为“通过……的方式或手段”。 • e. g. I can send him a note via the internal mail system. • 我可以通过内部邮件系统给他发个通知。 • （3） “high-tech” 是个合成词，意为“高技术型的……”，其中“tech”是“technology” 的缩 • 略语形式。

(二）词句分析 • 3． It can rapidly dissolve the soluble oil component in pesticides so as to quickly separate the pesticides from vegetable and fruit. • 能快速溶解农药中的乳油成分,使农药和蔬果迅速剥离。 • （1）“……so as to……” 的原意为“如此……以至于……”，在本句中需译为“使……达到……的一种效果”。 • e. g. Tom does this so as to let Betty run quickly from the dangerous place. • 汤姆这样做的目的是为了让贝蒂尽快的离开这个危险的地方。 • （2）“ separate ……from……” 在本句中的意思为“使……与……分离”。 • e. g. Violent prisoners are kept separate from the others. • 有暴力倾向的罪犯都是分开关押的。 • 4．The active ingredient in this product is approved by WHO, EU and US-EPA and complies with FAO specifications. • 本品所含活性成分经世界卫生组织，欧盟和美国环保署批准，符合联合国粮农组织标准。 • （1） “……is approved by……”的意思为“……被……所批准”。 • e. g. The company’s account is approved by the auditors. • 公司的帐目已经被审计师核查过了。 • （2） “comply with……”的原意为“按……的要求去做”，在本句中需翻译为 “符合……的标准”。 • e. g. The rules must be complied with. • 这些规定必须遵守。

13. (二）词句分析 • 5. keep away from children. • 请避免儿童触及。 • 此句为典型的说明书语句的用法，“Keep away from……”在本句中译为 • “放置在……无法触及或接触不到的地方”。 • e. g. This thing should be strictly kept away from teenagers. • 这个东西绝对不能让青少年接触到。

14. 第二节 翻译技巧 一 商务说明书的翻译 • 一般来说商务说明书的内容是介绍产品的功能、性质以及机件的工作原理、主要技术 • 参数或者主要成分构成等。说明书的翻译要注意以下几点： • 1. 保持其技术和知识的传播性特点 • 说明书起着传播技术和知识的作用，翻译时要求译者首先了解相关的专业知识，查阅专 • 业词典，或者请教有关专家或行家，以保证不至于造成翻译错误或者说外行话，切忌望文 • 生义，也不可使用含糊不清的表达，让读者无所适从。 • 例如： • ST858/ST858L 5-Band Radio Cassette Recorder • Dynamic power output is 18W total. Sharp MW/SW/SW2/SW3/FM Stereo radio reception on the ST858. The ST858L delivers superb NW/LM/SW1/SW2/FM Stereo band reception. Full auto-stop and automatic quick program search (AQPS systerm). 16. 第二节 翻译技巧 • Lacovo • Lacovo, scientifically prepared with choice ingredients including malt extract, powder cocoa, fresh butter and eggs, is rich in vitamins A, B, D and organic phosphorous. Then add fresh milk or condensed milk. It makes a delightful and wholesome drink in summer.

17. 第二节 翻译技巧 • (译文)：乐口福系采用麦精、牛乳、可可粉、鲜黄油、鲜鸡蛋等上等原料，以科 • 学的方法精制而成，含有丰富的维生素A 、B、 D及天然有机磷质，具有提神醒脑、增强体质之功效，特别适用于用脑过度、神经衰弱的患者。常饮本品，可以增强肌体的免疫力。本品适宜四季饮用，是老少皆宜的营养饮料，也是馈赠亲友之佳品。 • 饮用方法： • 热饮：取乐口福两至三茶匙，然后倒入适量开水，搅拌至完全融化为 • 止。加入适量的牛奶和糖，味道更佳。 • 冷饮：取乐口福两至三茶匙，然后倒入适量冷开水，搅拌至完全融化 • 为止。可再加入适量的鲜牛奶或炼乳，是夏季消暑保健之佳品。 • 总之，翻译说明书要强调其实用性，注意其语言的通俗性，表述的准 • 确性，还要注意保持原作的设计风格和新颖特点，对有关如机械的电流 • 电压、药品服用的剂量等数字和其他重要事项应特别慎重和仔细，避免 • 导致不良后果。

18. 被动语态的翻译 • 英汉两种语言都有被动语态，但由于表达习惯上的差异，英语往往习惯用被动语态来表达，而汉语则用主动语态来表达。如：“That young man cannot be relied upon.” 译成汉语就应该是“那位年轻人不可信赖”或者“我们不能信任那位年轻人”。如果将此句译成汉语的被动句“那位年轻人不可以被信赖”，译文就会显得很别扭，不符合汉语的表达习惯。 • 由此可见，翻译时经常进行语态的转换是十分必要的。英语中被动语态的使用十分广泛，尤其在商务类函件及说明书之类的翻译中，这种现象更为多见。相比之下，汉语被动语态使用的范围要小得多。因此，在商务说明书的翻译过程中——也就是是英译汉时，大量被动语态的句子需要通过种种方法加以处理，以保证译文通顺流畅地表达原意。英语被动语态的汉译一般有以下几种方法:

19. 被动语态的翻译 1. 保留原文的主语，用 “被” 对译 • （1）Banker's drafts drawn by one branch on the Head Office or another branch are not cheques, because the Head Office and all the branches are considered to be one institution, whereas the drawer and drawee must be distinct parities. • 一个分行开给其总行或另一个分行的汇票不同于支票，因为总行和所有分行被 • 看成是一个机构，而出票人和付款人必须是两个不同的机构。 • （2）In front of Liz stood James's friend Christopher Hill in wet trunks, sobbing: “James has been swept out. I think he’s hurt.” • 站在莉兹面前的詹姆斯的朋友希尔，运动裤湿淋淋的，哭泣道：“詹姆斯让海 • 浪卷走了，我想他受伤了。” • 2. 译成表示被动意味的主动句 • 当被动者是无生命的东西而主动者又不很明显时，往往采用这种方法，例如： • All commercial papers went for collection must be accompanied by a remittance letter giving complete and precise instructions. • 寄出托收的一切商业票据，必须附上一切托收函，上面要有完整而又确切的托收指示。

20. 被动语态的翻译 • 3. 完全译成主动句，即主动句型，主动意思 • （1）As most countries are vigorously promoting exports and also because of the tremendous growth of multinational corporations, the international market, in most instances, is characterized by intense competition on an extensive scale. • 由于大多数国家都在积极地促进出口而且跨国公司都以惊人的速度增长，国际市场多以大规 • 模的激烈竞争为特点。 • （2）The financial information provided by an accounting system is needed by managerial decision makers to help them plan and control the activities of the economic entity. • 会计系统提供的金融信息对于帮助管理层决策人员制定计划和控制该经济实体的活动而言是 • 不可缺少的。 • 4. 原文有主动者时，一般都要改变句型，用主动者作主语，译成主动句 • （1）If a letter of credit is not used by the beneficiary, it may be returned to the applicant for cancellation. • 如果受益人没有使用信用证，可以退还给开证人去注销。(如果该句译成 “如果一个信用证没 • 有被受益人使用，它可以退还给开证人注销” 就非常别扭，不符合汉语表达习惯。)

21. 被动语态的翻译 • 5. 使用无主句 • 英语句子里未出现主动者而译成汉语时又无法补充出来或者没有必要补充时，可以用无主句或者省去主语的方式来处理，例如： • （1）You are requested to look into the matter and give us an early reply. • 请你们查明此事并早日答复。（不必补出“我们”，否则句子显得别扭。） • （2）Four major stages in the product life cycle have been identified: Introduction, growth, maturity and decline. • 已经确定，产品的生命周期可以划分为四个阶段：引进市场阶段、成长阶段、成熟阶段和衰退阶段。 • （3）Partial shipments are allowed, unless the credit specially states otherwise. • 除非信用证另有特殊规定，才可以分批装运。 • （4） An irrevocable letter of credit may not be amended or cancelled without the consent of the beneficiary. • 不可撤消信用证未经受益人同意，不得任意修改或撤销。

22. 被动语态的翻译 • 6. 将 “it is + past participle” 结构译成 “人们 + 动词谓语”的汉语结构 • （1） It is generally agreed that organizations with effective managers will likely be successful, whereas organizations with poor managers will likely fail. • 人们普遍认为,拥有高效胜任的管理人才的公司成功的可能性更大，而管理人员能 • 力低下的公司则大多会失败。 • 此类的句子还有，如： • It is hoped that... 希望，有人希望 • It is assumed that... 假设，假定 • It is claimed that... 据说，有人主张 • It is believed that... 有人相信，大家相信 • It is reported that... 据报道，据通报 • It is considered that... 人们认为，据估计 • It is said that... 据说，有人说 • It is supposed that... 据推测，人们猜测 • It has been announced that... 已经宣布

23. 第三节 翻译实践 一． 将下列句子译成汉语 • 1．All the key universities of the country are being built in this place. • (国家所有的重点大学都建在这一地区) • 2. It can be seen that another bridge will be built over the river. • (可以看出，这条河上将另建一座桥) • 3. This out-of-date teaching method must be done away with. • (必须废除这种过时的教学方法) • 4.
