  1. ONGEA and EANGUS YOUR STATE ASSOCIATION Ohio National Guard Enlisted Association (ONGEA) YOUR NATIONAL ASSOCIATION Enlisted Association of the National Guard of the United States (EANGUS) DUAL MEMBERSHIP: If you join one, you join both

  2. ONGEA and EANGUS WHAT ARE THE ENLISTED ASSOCIATIONS? MISSION: The Enlisted Associations exist to promote the status, welfare and professionalism of the enlisted members of the Ohio National Guard, both Army and Air. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED THOUGH SUCCESSFUL LEGISLATION: EANGUS and ONGEA are the only lobbying organizations that fight for benefits specific to the National Guard. ONGEA gives Ohio Soldiers and Airmen a voice in our State House, and EANGUS voices enlisted National Guard issues on Capitol Hill. The larger our membership, the louder our voice.

  3. ONGEA and EANGUS WHAT HAVE THE ASSOCIATIONS DONE FOR YOU LATELY? • Military retirement pay now exempt from Ohio State income tax • Expanded Montgomery GI Bill benefits • Continued funding for annual military pay raises; enlistment and retention bonuses. • Raised creditable retirement points from 90 to 130 per year • Early retirement provisions - 90 days off age 60 for 90 aggregate days deployed • National Guard Empowerment Act provisions • Extended VA health care from 2 years to 5 years post-deployment • TRICARE for all reservists at only ONE rate (28%) and not three rates  • Maintained end strengths of Army and Air Guard against DoD push for reductions ASSOCIATION PROGRAMS • Scholarships (ONGEA; EANGUS; and EANGUS Auxiliary) • We care for America Program (Emergency grants for ANG/ARNG due to financial hardship – more than $300,000 Awarded to Guardmembers in need since Hurricane Katrina)

  4. ONGEA and EANGUS EVERY GUARD MEMBER HAS A VESTED INTEREST IN INITIATIVES SUPPORTED BY ONGEA/EANGUS Legislative Success means more benefits … more opportunities to attract applicants, retain Soldiers. • Stability of enlistment, reenlistment bonuses • Expansion of educational benefits • Continued funding for ONG Scholarship Program (remember 1988’s drop from 100% to 60% coverage)
