  3. Background • 14th October 2010: Fire Minister announced that Firebuy is to be closed • Timetable set out is for Firebuy to cease trading in Spring 2011 • Working has been progressing to achieve that

  4. Current position • Certain functions are to be transferred to DCLG with effect from 9/4/11 • This covers: • - Contract management of New Dimensions (LTCM) contract • - Contract management of Integrated Clothing Project • - Technical services work • - EU funded project (Enprotex)

  5. Current position • Work has been on-going to transfer the remainder of Firebuy’s work (frameworks) • DCLG sought bidders to assume responsibility for the framework agreements going forward • 11 expressions of interest were received • 8 organisations invited to submit bids • 4 bids received by deadline of 27 January 2011

  6. Current position • Following an evaluation process The Consortium was appointed as preferred bidder • This outcome was approved by the Firebuy Board on 16 February and the Fire Minister notified • Work on-going on the practicalities e.g. due diligence, staffing issues, etc • Aim is for novation of contracts to occur by 30 April 2011 with the Consortium assuming responsibility from 1 May.
