Plural nouns refer to more than one object, animal or person. Description This worksheet is for class 3 English grammar, comprising the topic of singular and plural nouns. It will help students to have a better understanding of the English language and its rules in general. After solving the worksheet, students will have a better understanding of common and proper nouns. They will also be able to answer the following questions: 1.What is a noun? 2.What are the types of nouns? W hat is a noun? A noun is any word used to describe or refer to a person, place, animal, things etc. For example, there is this girl called Anjali. Here, the name Anjali is a noun since it describes a person. We can use a verb in the form of a noun too. For example, Anjali is doing the activity of dancing. Here, we use 'dancing' to describe what Anjali is doing. Dancing generally gets used as a verb.   2. Similarly, we can also use pronouns as a noun. For example, he is going to the playground. Here, we use 'he' to denote the person, but 'he' is also a pronoun. It proves that a pronoun can be used as a noun too. Examples of nouns are - Ajay, Ram, Sita, Tiger, Eagle, Tree, Plant, Field, Russia, India etc. In this worksheet, we would be practising singular and plural nouns. But first, let us look at the type of nouns. W hat are the types of nouns? There are the following types of nouns: 1.Proper nouns 2.Common nouns 3.Abstract nouns 4.Concrete nouns 5.Countable nouns 6.Uncountable nouns 7.Collective nouns 8.Compound nouns W hat is a countable noun? Countable nouns refer to things, animals or places that we can count using numbers. Example 1 - 5 Apples. Here, we can count that there are five apples present. Example 2 - 10 ants. Here too, we can count the number of ants, that is ten. If we have to use countable nouns in the sentence, we can use them in the following manner: Ram is going to bring five apples. There are at least ten ants on the wall. Example 2 - There is a fish in the pond. Here, the singular noun refers to only one fish present in the pond. W hat is a plural noun? Plural nouns refer to more than one object, animal or person. Example 1 - I have a stack of notebooks. Here, the singular noun refers to a single stack, but the plural noun is the stack of notebooks. Example 2 - There is a school of fish in the pond. Here, the plural noun refers to a school of fish, meaning a lot of fishes together, present in the pond. So now that we know what are singular and plural nouns, let us look at some fun exercises.
