  3. Class setup - Dawn Syllabus and Online Posting Information • Each school will receive an electronic copy of a syllabus draft for School Improvement Planning 2011-12. Complete the required information in the highlighted areas. • Send an electronic copy with the completed syllabus information to: Staff Development contact for elementary schools • Patricia.Goodspeed@kent.k12.wa.us (x7093) Staff Development contact for secondary schools • Dawn.Kunz@kent.k12.wa.us (x7836) • The syllabus will be reviewed by your Staff Development contact. Once approved, the information from the syllabus will be posted online for registration. The final syllabus will be returned to you as an electronic attachment with a note that registration is open. • Forward the electronic copy of the syllabus to your staff. If staff are interested in taking this class, they are required to register online prior to the start date. • The syllabus draft for pre-service and fall classes must be submitted to your Staff Development contact on or before: June 1, 2011. (providing the 2011-2012 district calendar has been established by then)

  4. Staff Development Website login - Dawn • Select the Department tab at the top of the page of the KSD website; scroll down and open Staff Development, select Click Here in red. Use your KSD login and password in the Profile box. • Your homepage will display first. You can review and update your personal profile information, search and sign up for classes, view your history and print an official clock hour form for completed class sessions. • Select the Registrar/Instructor title located at the top left corner to view your SIP class. In the Search box, enter (school initial) to display your information only. Select the green edit button to receive other tab options. • Monitor class list enrollment status • Print attendance sheet on the first day of the class session by scrolling down to Forms below the green tabs on the left side of the page. Select the Landscape option and print. • Review evaluations after the completion of the class.

First class session - PattyInstructor’s Responsibility • Print attendance sheet on the first day of the class session to have the most updated enrollment. • Distribute syllabus electronically or hard copy • Review syllabus and homework with all participants • Collect clock hours checks at the first session only. • An envelope will be provided for collecting clock hour checks at the first session. Checks are made payable to the Kent School District which will also be noted on the envelope. Fees cannot be prorated or refunded; No cash is accepted. Do not hold checks. State W.A.C. requires all money collected by a school district be deposited on the next business day of receipt if possible. • Review the attendance sheet after each session. All participants are required to sign in upon arrival at each session. Do NOT leave any attendance box blank or use an abbreviation such as “AB”. Simply mark an “X” in the box if the participant was absent. If a participant arrives late or leaves early, they should make note of it. This will help you to calculate total hours earned accurately after the final session. • Send a copy of the first session’s attendance sheet and clock hour checks received to Patty Goodspeed on the next school day.

Participant’s Responsibility- Patty • Participants are required to initial the attendance sheet upon arrival at each session in the correct date box. • Participants that arrive late or leave early shall make a note of the time on the attendance sheet. • This will help you to calculate the correct hours earned at the completion of the class. • Participants will indicate their choice of clock hours (CH) or audit (A) in the column provided. • Participant will review the syllabus for class requirements. • Participants are responsible for payment at the first class session. The fee is $4.00 per clock hour and noted on the syllabus. Online credit card payment for clock hours is now an option staff will receive when they enroll for any class. • Participants will be responsible to submit the clock hour check payment directly to the Staff Development office if not turned in on the first session. The instructor/designee is no longer responsible.

  7. Final class session - PATTY • KSD online evaluations are required. Remind your staff to complete the online evaluation as soon as possible. A blue evaluation box with be displayed on their Staff Development homepage the last day of any class session. Select the class title to display, bubble in the answers and save. All information remains anonymous. The system generates a report from the information received along with the number of responses received per class. • Total Hours (HRS) - Write the total hours earned for each participant per their attendance. Be sure to adjust hours earned for late arrivals and early dismissals which should be noted on the attendance sheet. An X should be marked if the participant was absent. No attendance box should be left empty. • Participants taking this class for an audit should have their hours totaled as well. • Sign and date the top of the attendance sheet to confirm that all information is posted accurately. The attendance sheet will be the final verification for any questions that may arise later and for auditing purposes. • Final paperwork is due one week after the final session. • Send the original attendance sheet with the completed information listed above to Patty Goodspeed in the Staff Development Office.   8. Salaries, Stipends and Benefits - Marcia Article VI- Section 1. Salaries, Stipends and Benefits Provisions Governing Teacher’s Salary Schedule for Advancement September 30 (deadline for paperwork to be submitted) On or before October 1 each year, documentation (certification, degree, official transcripts and experience) must be submitted to Human Resources. All new hires must have appropriate documentation of all course credit, including clock hours, and experience registered in Human Resources within ninety (90) calendar days from their first day of work in order for the credit and/or experience to be applicable to the current year salary. Article VII. Section 8.Other Terms and Conditions of Employment January 15(deadline for paperwork to be submitted) A seniority list will be established for teachers on continuing and provisional contracts by February 15. Employees having the highest number of credits (including clock hour credits) as recorded in Human Resources for salary purposes as of January 15 of the current school year shall have seniority.

  9. For additional classes - Dawn Submit syllabus information 3 weeks prior to start date. This will allow the Staff Development Office time to post the class online and allow your staff the opportunity to register online prior to the start date.
