  3. Do not eatwithyourhands. Not evenfruit!

  4. Do not carryyourwallet in backjeanspocket, nor do theladiesslingyourbagsoverthebacks of chairs.

  5. Do not getdrunkand do not walkaround at nightalone.

  6. Do not wearshorts in public.

  7. DO’S • Do shakehandswitheveryone, fromtheoldesttothekids, andexpect a kiss on eachcheek, a hugor a pat on thebackfromthoseyouknow.

  8. Do dressstylishly, but modestly. Wear nice accessoriestoo. • Do getreadytobecome a second-handsmokerifyouare not a smoker, andpretendthatyouarefinewith it. Smoking is widelyaccepted in Spain.

  9. Do be preparedforlatelunchanddinner. InSpain, no onegoesoutmuchbefore 10pm toeatorfor a drink, trytohave a lightsnackabout 5pm to put you on.

  10. Do tipsifyouaresatisfiedwithservices. Tipping is not customary in Spain.

  11. Do rest yourwrists at theedge of thetablewheneating.

  12. Do put yourknifeandfork on yourplateparallelwiththehandlesfacingtotherighttoshowthatyouhavefinishedeating.

  13. Do give a highqualitygift, such as brandyorwhiskey, andbring a smallgiftforchildren as well. Openyourgiftimmediatelywhenreceiving a gift.

  14. Do be awarethatdining is importanttobusinessrelationships in Spain.
