  3. PARENTING AS A CALLING One that is taken up for purposes beyond our ownpersonal fulfillment It calls for discipline to accomplish with God Hispurposes

  4. PARENTING AS STEWARDSHIP We are entrusted with children; we do not own them We need to discover God’s will and purpose fortheir lives

  5. PARENTING AS MINISTERING THE GOSPEL Home is where we get to express and experience the Gospel (Domestic Church) Grace/undeserved kindness Belongingness, Belovedness 2. People are touched for God and by God in the normal daily routines in the home

  6. PARENTING AS SERVING ONE ANOTHER Each member of the family ministers to the other Prayer brings members of the family to God praying for one another

  7. PARENTING AS DISCIPLING Not as a class room setting but life-on-life relationship Learning is continuous and unscheduled Learning through example and instruction Encourage rather than control THOT: THE BEST PARENTS ARE THOSE WHO ARE IN SPEAKING TERMS WITH GOD AND SPANKING TERMS WITH THEIR CHILDREN

NOTE ON FAMILY ALTAR • The fathers ought to be encouraged to lead in Family Altar • Keep it brief – real young children cannot even sit for 15 minutes. • Keep it simple and in the level of the listeners • Find an appropriate time and place • Let the Bible passage be brief and lock to one simple truth • Singing can be a part of Family Altar • Be flexible • Prayer should be specific and relevant and not too long. • ·        Place of adoration • ·        Place of confession • ·        Place of Thanksgiving • ·        Place of intercession • NOTE: The family that Prays together stays together
