  3. The Dred Scott Case • The Supreme Court makes a decision on slavery • The court decides: • 1. Dred Scott has to return to slavery • 2. Slaves were not citizens • 3. Slaves do not have rights in court

  4. The Dred Scott Case • More northerners were upset • Gave the South the legal authority to continue slavery. • Further separates the North and the South.
