MARPLOT Today Today you can obtain MARPLOT packaged in two different ways As a free standalone - download from EPA at http://response.restoration.noaa.gov/marplot Packaged US Census data and Landview via http://www.census.gov/geo/landview/ (entire US on 2 DVDs at $129) or http://atlas.lsu.edu/landview5/ (one state at a time for free) Download additional county maps for free at http://web-services.gov/mmaps/index.htm

  8. MARPLOT Beta Downloads with the continental US and state maps As you zoom in, MARPLOT automatically downloads any needed local maps and displays them Looks more like a highway map, online mapping program or atlas Uses the same navigation buttons as the current MARPLOT

  9. MARPLOT TODAY Deriving a population estimate from an area: Draw polygon or plot plume Select polygon or plume List menu -> Search… Objects inside or touched by Set layer to Census Block Points Search, Show All on Map Sharing menu -> LandView -> Get Info Summarize

Aerial Photos Today Select for or search for an USGS-GNIS object in LandView Click the “Web Link” button On the web page, click “View USGS Digital Orthophoto Quadrangle (DOQ)” Save the file to your computer Create a new layer or open an existing layer, bring in the photo and geo-reference (a long process taking several steps)

  15. Topo Maps Today Select for or search for an USGS-GNIS object in LandView Click the “Web Link” button On the web page, click “View USGS Digital Raster Graphic or Topozone.com” Like aerial photos, topo maps must be saved, placed in a layer and geo-referenced
