  2. Characteristics of the Muskie • Can grow to 60 inches. • Can weigh up to 70 pounds. • Color- green-gold, light brown • May have dark vertical markings on the sides. • May have dark spots on the tail. • Has a flat head. • Powerful jaws with long sharp teeth.

  4. The Muskie Diet They will eat fish, snakes, frogs, water birds and muskrats. They will attack and eat smaller Muskie. Lower jaw- long, sharp teeth Upper jaw- additional pads and gripping teeth The Muskie grabs its prey, rotates it and swallows it head first.

  6. Muskie Habitat • Muskies are found in rivers and lakes. • They are found in the Great Lakes, St. Lawrence River and the upper Mississippi and Ohio Rivers. • They like to be near deep or shallow areas and weed beds with plenty of vegetation.
